I am currently teaching at a language school in Portsmouth.

I grew up between Dubai and Bombay and did my GCSEs and A-Levels at a Boarding School. I obtained a total of 9 A's and A*'s at my GCSEs and 3 As and 1 B at my A-Levels. I studied the international board, Cambridge International Examinations, which is focuses on the older style of GCSE and A-Level examining but I did sit a few Edexcel and OCR exams which I feel were ridiculously easy compared to the older grading styles.

Teaching Experience:
At school I taught Middle and Primary School students with learning difficulties English and Maths and tutored GCSE and A-Level students in Physics and Maths. At university I have also tutored a few students in Fluid Mechanics, Solid Mechanics and Manufacturing Engineering subjects. I have also given a few tutor sessions to non-science students in Maths and Calculus. The reason why I would like to tutor now is because working at Rolls-Royce I am often limited in the subject areas I can practice so I feel tutoring will keep me on my toes across an area of subjects.

Tutoring Approach:
I take time to find the right set of problems and notes for a student to practice and I watch students solving problems or arguing essays so I get an understanding on areas in which the need work in. I am a firm believer in fundamentals in Maths and Science so I will make sure the students sorts their understanding out first. When teaching Physics and some maths, I like to use real life examples (e.g., the Emirates Stadium when solving problems about damping) as I find that students are able to grasp concepts quicker this way.

I have experience of teaching from the age of 15, where I volunteered to work in my local primary school, I then continued to return to the school until I was 17 years old, whenever I had free periods from college.
Whilst at University I worked with deprived children over a long weekend, to give them drama skills.
After obtaining my degree I got an acting job travelling around Barnsley, Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent, promoting safe sex by doing a theatre in education play. This was done with 13 to 15 year olds and after every performance we would do workshops with the children.
On my P.G.C.E course I did two long placements, my first was in an affluent area of Ramsgate in a reception class and the second was in a deprived area of Canterbury in a year two class. I passed both placements with both good and excellent marks.

Tutoring Approach:
Even though I am offering reading and writing tuition for primary school children I have experienced older children and adults who also struggle with these essential skills. I would therefore love to help whoever I could, as not everyone finds reading and writing easy.
I use the sounds write approach, which is a mixture of jolly phonics and the blending of letters together to make words. This, in my experience, has created very positive results in learning to read and write.

My name is Cairan, and I am seventeen years old. I left school a year ago and I am currently studying Childcare and Education in college. I received 4 credit standard grades, including English(1) , Business Management (1) and history (2). I feel I would really enjoy helping other people with these subjects as I really enjoyed them in school and have a very good knowledge of these subjects at a standard grade level.
I am a cheery person who will try and explain parts which the child is not quite understanding in a simple form which I think would have even helped me in school. Also with me only been seventeen I feel that I should be able to work along side the child very well.

Teaching Experience:
I have no current teaching experience, however I am studying a college course to become a teacher and I feel that this sort of experience will help out a lot.
