Personal Description:
If you choose me, your child will see a marked improvement in their results and confidence levels. I am a highly experience, professional and friendly tutor with advanced DBS clearance. My teaching experience includes GCSE, iGCSE and A level (Edexcel, AQA, OCR (A and B for Physics), WJEC), University level Maths and Physics (including Oxford entrance exams MAT and PAT) as well as assisting PhD students to improve their thesis writing skills.

As well as being a tutor, I work in research and development where I lead programmes that use Physics to understand complex problems. I was awarded a First Class Honours degree from University College London in 1997 and went on to study a PhD in Quantum Mechanics. On successful completion of my PhD in 2001 I started work at Thales Research and Technology (TRT) where I led projects on Adaptive Learning Systems and Information Management. I initiated the first programme to span the three TRT laboratories in France, Netherlands and UK in the area of Cognitive Systems research. I then went on to set up and lead a large collaborative team between TRT and University of Surrey to study remote collaboration technologies. I joined General Dynamics United Kingdom Limited in 2005, primarily to ensure exploitation of DIF DTC technologies into the UK Ministry of Defence Equipment Programme. I received my Chartered Physicist status in 2004 and am now a director.

Teaching Experience:
Several students have improved by more than 4 grades after just six months of tuition with me, and commonly students improve by at least one or two grades. Many of my students who previously had lost their passion for Maths and Physics, go on to take these subjects to a further level. Apart from the usual syllabuses I am experienced at teaching students the Maths section of the SATs and ACTs in order to get scholarships to American Universities.

Tutoring Approach:
My tuition method involves making Maths and Physics fun so that children and young adults will remember their lessons and overcome the "I can't do science" syndrome. So that you can assess whether or not I am the right tutor for your child I offer the first lesson for free.

I have been teaching languages for over 20 years in a variety of settings: comprehensive, state grammar, independent senior and Prep. My exam students at GCSE and A Level always perform extremely well and exceed their target grades. I am passionate about languages and thoroughly enjoy teaching. Working on a one to one basis is particularly rewarding, as so much can be achieved in a relatively short period of time.

Teaching Experience:
I studied French with German at Exeter University, spending my year abroad living and working in Paris, teaching English in French schools. I have a PGCE in Modern Languages from Cambridge University. I have been a secondary school teacher for 25 years - teaching French from Year 1 to A Level and German from Year 7 to 9. I have also worked as an examiner for AQA, moderating GCSE French orals and marking GCSE writing papers for Edexcel. At present I work with the Leicestershire Adult Learning Service working as an E Learning Champion at Oadby Library. I offer free computer tuition to adults wishing to learn more about the computer or have any puzzling questions that need answering. All learners complete a course called My Guide which helps them learn more about the computer by following a set of modules and topics.

Whilst I was at Moat at during my education at Beauchamp College and Loughborough College I helped to assist/ train a small group in the use of particular pieces of hardware and software At Loughborugh College. I also assisted in several HP IT Essentials classes where I assisted students to gain particular qualifications. Whilst at Moat I assisted staff in the training and understanding of new software to ensure all staff have the confidence to deliver the curriculum and to provide support to staff appropriate to their needs. I would be able to provide support, assistance, training help and guidance to staff/students using computers, new and existing software and technologies

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to teaching/tutoring is a simple one I always strive to make sure the learner understands whats he/she is being taught and if there are aspects that they find difficult I revise that particular topic over and over again until they understand and I do this using the various teaching methods and learning styles available to ne including the VAK (Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic) approach.

Once they have an understanding of the topic I don't move on until they feel comfortable and I always reasure them throughout.

A native Japanese from Tokyo with the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language. Lived in the UK for over 25 years. Specifically trained to teach non-Japanese learners. Teaching full time as a profession. My background is in graphic design but I travelled around New Zealand and Australia before coming to the UK. Through my travel, I met people from many different countries and greatly enjoyed the experience. I live in Kings Norton which is in the south side of Birmingham.

Teaching Experience:
I taught my son Japanese singlehandedly from home without outside help and he got A* for both Japanese GCSE and A level. I take on both adults and students ranging from adults with Japanese connection in business, students who are studying for GCSE/JLPT. Young people who want to live and work in Japan in the future, people who want to watch Japanese anime without subtitles, people who want to visit Japan on holiday and much more. The level of my students range from complete beginners to upper-intermediate. I have also taught groups of children, and also a group of adults at a company.
