I am an experienced secondary science teacher and physics specialist with a number of years experience as a classroom teacher and private tutor. I have a Physics degree from Imperial College London, a Masters degree in Science communication from UWE Bristol and qualified as a teacher with the University of Bedfordshire. I have taught at several outstanding secondary schools in Milton Keynes, for the medical needs office teaching children out of school for medical reasons, as a 1:1 teacher of home educated children and as a private tutor for children in school wanting to improve their exam grades. I am also a STEM ambassador and worked for several years in outreach education preparing and delivering science summer school programmes to school age students.

I have taught at several outstanding secondary schools in Milton Keynes and am up to date with the current curriculum and assessment requirements. I lived and worked in France from 1982 to 1985. I have always spent the summer holidays from the age of 12 living with a French family and feel equally at home in France or England. From school age I knew I wanted to travel and find new places learning the language as I went. I love to communicate and enjoy meeting people and getting to know them and want to pass on the enthusiasm I feel for all things French. I enjoy reading, music, films and French food isn't bad either.

Teaching Experience:
My initial teaching experience was with 'Le Club Francais' where I was in charge of a weekly after school club of 5 - 11 year olds. This was great fun as learning was channelled through games.
My friend's son had extra lessons after school to pass his oral French which he did with flying colours and commendation from his teacher.
A teacher from a nearby school wanted to move to France, so asked for help with pronunciation and grammar.
I have also translated a marketing leaflet for a company in Bradford and am the voice at the end of a help line for French speaking residents who wish to move house.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that enjoyment is the motivation for learning. To make sure that a lesson is visually, orally and kinaesthetically appealing to students will ensure maximum attention span and maximise learning and long term memory retention. I have quite an approachable personality and am a good listener, which is important in establishing boundaries (for both learner and teacher) and to iron out any potential problems or misunderstandings that could arise. I am an experienced teacher with a strong interest in all things scientific.
I am recently retired from full-time teaching and live in the Durham area with my family including two teenage daughters along with our faithful dog, Charlie.
My specialism is Physics. After many years teaching I think I understand why some students find it so tough and I always try to use real life examples and analogies to help students with their learning and understanding.

Teaching Experience:
I taught for most of my career, more than 30 years in a large comprehensive school in Newcastle.
I have held a number of posts including an extended period as Head of Physics.
Specifications and schemes of work change far more than they used to but the fundamentals of Physics remain the same and a good grasp of key concepts is the essential foundation for success at all levels.

Tutoring Approach:
I love the buzz and performance element of classroom teaching particularly with A level and GCSE students, but I think I am equally at home teaching in small groups and with one to one individual teaching. In these situations it is essential that students take ownership of their learning and I enjoy helping students identify their strengths and weaknesses and devise some careful planning to understand and improve.

Hello! Originally I come from Doncaster in South Yorkshire, but I've lived in Kent for 16+ years now.
I live in Faversham now and have done so for a few years.

Teaching Experience:
I've been an English teacher for over 26 years. During this time I have taught AQA, WJEC and now EDUQAS qualifications at both GCSE and A level.
I have taught A level English Literature and A level English Language. My passion is English Language-I love to teach all aspects of this subject from Child Language Acquisition, to Diversity in Language to Language Change.
In my career to date, I have been Head of Department and then Head of Faculty and Senior Teacher but for health reasons now I am part time and Second in English at my current school.
