Emme began her musical studies at the age of nine, receiving music scholarships at both her Prep school and the prestigious Oxford High School for Girls up until she left. She made her Concerto debut at the age of seventeen, playing Mouquet's La Flute de Pan Concerto, and successfully gained both the DipABRSM and LRSM in performance before moving to Manchester in 2005 to study at the Royal Northern College of Music. At the RNCM Emmeline studied with Richard Davis, Linda Verrier, Michael Cox, and Laura Jellicoe culminating in a final recital in 2009 that included works by Messiaen, Liebermann and George Crumb. Since graduating in 2009 she has continued to learn, play and teach the flute as well as the recorder and music theory.

As an orchestral flute player, Emme has performed in orchestras conducted by Hansjorg Schellenbeger, Sir Mark Elder, Gianndrea Noseda and Jacques Van Steen, just to name a few. She has performed across England as well as travelling to Italy to work under Noseda in his Stresa Festival and to Spain as part of the Word Orchestra. During 2008 and 2009, Emme successfully competed to become the only chosen flute player to take part in The BBC Philharmonics Professional Experience Scheme, and since then she regularly performs and records with the Orchestra in and around Manchester. She has also played with the Bampton Classical Opera, the London-Irish Symphony Orchestra, the Oxford Concerto Orchestra, and Stockport Symphony Orchestra and has featured as principal flautist on a number of recordings, notably for the soundtrack to the film Tortoise in Love, and on recordings for Polyphonic Records. She is currently performing in the touring hit musical Phantom of the Opera, as well as taking part in sessions for shows and TV in the UK.

Outside of orchestral playing Emme also performs chamber music and solo works. She is one of the founding members of Northern Quarter Ensemble, a flexible chamber group providing bespoke musicians for special events; most recently performing for royality at the Paris Opera Garnier. She often gives solo recitals and performs at weddings in Manchester, Oxford and Cheltenham. Her last concerto performance was just last year where she performed the Ibert Concerto with Oxford Studio Orchestra.

Outside of playing Emme enjoys teaching. During her time in Manchester she has taught privately, as well as for Lancashire, the Wirral and Bolton Music Services. She is also involved the BBC Philharmonic's outreach schemes, most recently being appointed the wind coach for the Family Orchestra projects in the North-West of England.

She has now moved to Oxfordshire and London and teaches at Preparatory Schools in both areas.

I graduated from the University of Oxford in 2011 with a degree in Experimental Psychology, and received a Masters in 2015. I have been tutoring for over 10 years, and run a company focused on inspiring students to reach their potential through study techniques based on neuroscientific evidence. Tutoring Approach:
My first step is always to assess exactly where my student is at so that I can plan the content for sessions accordingly and make sure that they get the best out of each lesson. If there are any gaps in the foundations of their knowledge we can then attack these head on. My approach is thus very organised and tailored to the specific needs of the student, with small goals set per session alongside a long term goal to work towards. I always ensure that my lessons are engaging, and work towards building a good relationship with my students, encouraging them to ask questions without any hesitation. I adapt my approach depending on my students' learning style as I feel this is the key to successful teaching.

At GCSE and A Level, my aim is always to make sure that students are completely familiar with the subject specification and assessment objectives as this dictates exactly where they can pick up most marks. Completing as many past papers as possible is also a step in the right direction, alongside completing assignments set by myself. I always give very detailed feedback so that my students know exactly where they can improve, and how to apply it to their work going forward.

My approach for students studying Psychology at degree level depends on what is required. Most students require guidance with essays, reports, dissertations and write ups; I usually go through the assignment with the student giving valuable, detailed feedback on what can be improved and exactly how they can go about doing so. This can involve several redrafts until the work has been completed to the students' full potential.

I gained my MBA at The University of Leicester in 2002. I have two daughters, and both speak Mandarin fluently. I used to work for an insurance company as an auditor, and now I am a full-time Chinese Tutor.

I left the Adult Education sector when I was head hunted by a family to deliver a private Home Learning curriculum and now work solely as a private tutor; supporting students in the Maths school curriculum and delivering a range of subjects (Maths, English, German, History, Photography, Chess etc.) to students who are home schooled. I also undertake private adult learning where there is a demand, additionally designing and undertaking bespoke plans for specific skills development such as report writing for business and fundamental Maths & Physics for basic Aircraft Engineering courses.

During the time of working in the Education & Employment sector I was responsible for skills development of various special needs groups so I have a solid understanding of and experience in a wide variety of educational needs. This experience also laid the foundation for a fixed term contract at a college for SEND students where I delivered a Maths curriculum to groups of SEND young adults within the QCF accredited curriculum.

As a professional educator I am committed to lifelong learning myself and, while I see the benefits and necessity of having learning goals to work towards, I believe that the most important role of a tutor is to develop a healthy and respectful relationship with a student, so that learning and achievement can flow from a sense of natural enquiry into a subject in a way which engages them in life. Languages and psychology are my passions. I enjoy learning languages (as well as the languages listed below, I have started learning some Arabic, Norwegian, Japanese, Spanish and Italian) and this has enabled me to try many different methods of learning a foreign language, which I can pass on to students to see which works best for them. In addition, I am currently researching the integration of psychology into language learning to make the learning process easier for students. I have lived abroad and am knowledgeable about different cultures. My CELTA level 5 qualification in teaching English as a foreign language included teaching students of different ages and abilities from around the world via zoom. My students were very engaged in their lessons and weren't afraid to have a go even if it meant making a mistake, as I am able to ensure a relaxed and safe atmosphere in the classroom (or virtual classroom). Sessions typically are one hour in length using a device to meet on as well as another device to work on. Expect the sessions to be interactive and complete work throughout the session and then have further work to complete as part of your revision schedule, you are accountable for your own learning so you can get as much out of the sessions as you want.
