I worked in Japan for two years, I spent one year teaching in a private English conversation school in the north of Japan. My youngest student being two and the eldest eighty three. Here I taught group lessons of up to four people. I also did special travel and tourism lessons preparing students who were going to study abroad.
I then spent six months as a lead teacher in an international preschool, here I taught all academic subjects through english to Japanese children. English was there second language.

Tutoring Approach:
I have a very fun and friendly approach as I like to make the atmosphere of the lesson as relaxed as possible. I feel that if the teacher and student are both relaxed learning will be more effective, however I do take teaching seriously. While most of my private tutoring is in the students home, I have also tutored within the school setting at Castlebrae High School, and I spent a couple of weeks on a placement in a Primary School as part of my degree.

Tutoring Approach:
I tend to work towards the exam, unless this is not the main intent of the tutoring, I use a mixture of the students school textbooks with past papers, revision aids, and materials I have prepared myself. I like to begin by highlighting the weaker topics, improving knowledge of these, and then working on exam technique and exam style questions.
When required I change this approach to suit the student, so if the sessions are more about improving confidence, I will spend more time on fewer topics, and try to make these as enjoyable as possible.

About Christine:
i have specialized in personal tutoring for 15 yrs.A qualified teacher i decided that private teaching was more rewarding and i could make a difference to students experiencing difficulties for whatever reason in their studies.I have three chidren of teenage years and have experienced first hand the challenges they face in this life changing period of their lives and the effect it can have on their education.I believe that every pupil has the ability to achieve if time is given to unlock their potential.This i think is one of the benefits of private tuition.

Teaching Experience:
Qualified teacher specializing in private tuition for 15 yrs.At the time my baby daughter spent a lot of time in hospital and private teavching gave me the flexibility i needed.I found it so rewardion i decided to concentrate on that rather than return to the classroom.I offer intense examination skills
as well as curriculum based teaching and teach gcse courses outside of school if the pupil is unable to take the subject of choice due to difficulties with options.

Tutoring Approach:
I always offer a free assessment session with tutee and parents to determine problems and needs.It is also very important that the pupil should feel comfortable with me .I then prepare a personal learning plan and if gcse or a level work closely with what is being taught in class providing skills neede for coursework and exams.I am also avaiable by phione or email if problems occur between tuitions.The sessions either take place at my home or the tutees wherever is most convenient for pupils and parents.I teach in a relaxed atmoshere where it is easy to ask questions and continually assure the tutee that its ok to get things wrong as that is why i am there.
