I regularly have revision classes for my own pupils, normally on a one to one basis or in a small group. I find this very different to the usual classroom environment! (its a lot quieter!)

Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy working with pupils on a one- to - one basis as you get the opportunity to see them develop and get the results they are trying so hard for. I believe that learning should be fun and therefore my planned lessons normally include some personal learning time e.g. learning about a new "cool" poet (can poetry be cool?!) or spending 5/ 10 minutes reading about what the pupil really wants to know about English. I then would prefer to work on areas my pupil is struggling with at school, be that grammar, or spelling or sentence structure etc. I will correct homework and essays etc with notes and suggestions, but very rarely set tutoring homework.

About Emmeline:
After working as an accountant for many years I have recently moved into secondary school teaching. I specialise in French, which I can teach across all age ranges and to adults, but I also teach German and Spanish to new learners at KS3 (11-14). I am a qualified accountant so am able to provide assistance with many areas of finance - accounting, management accounting and financial analysis, and I am able to provide some assistance with maths study at the lower end of KS3.

Tutoring Approach:
I provide support to the learner so that they can work to their own conclusions with guidance to keep them on track. I always make sure that students are on task, and if they are loosing concentration I would usually chance task for a period of time, such as completing something more simple in order to gain confidence.

I am a graduate from the University of Bristol, and gained a 2:1 in Hispanic Studies (Spanish with Portuguese) in 2007. As somebody who is considering a career in teaching Modern Languages, I would be happy to gain experience working with students of all ages.

Teaching Experience:
I have extensive experience working with children, having completed a 5 month placement as a classroom assistant in South America during my gap year, and worked in a British primary school for 3 weeks last summer. Both placements involved me working in small groups or individually with children. More recently, I have volunteered with the scouts and spent days in local secondary schools. This is all part of my plan to train as a modern Languages teacher.

Tutoring Approach:
I get on well with children and young people, and would be happy to focus on any area that they needed extra help on. Sessions would be individually tailored and at the student's own pace. If there are any specific texts that the pupil is working with I would request some advance warning of this.
