About Emma:
I am a student at Brunel University studying financial mathematics, I have taught many of my family and friends and am always helping around exam time. I enjoy teaching children and have found that if you give some children a chance to think without rushing them it works wonders.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught many students at GCSE level in mathematics, have taught basic french to students and also alot of family friends and family.

Tutoring Approach:

I make teaching fun, I interact games (especially for younger students) so that they catch on quicker without noticing that they are learning. I also encourage my students to do a little bit of homework for me each week (only about half an hours worth as i know that they have their own school work to do) but this does stop them forgetting what they have learnt the week before.

I also like to interact the parents in sitting and learning with their children (if the parents wish to) so that the work does not seem like such a chore but like a family activity with games.

About Aaron:
My name is Aaron and I am a Teaching assistant in Loughborough. I am very friendly and approachable, and I pride myself on being incredibly patient. I would love to help your child achieve the best they possibly can.

Teaching Experience:

I have lots of experience volunteering and working with children, I worked in a primary school Voluntary for just over a year with special educational needs children and also children with behavioural problems.
I have a full time job in a local primary school where I work with children of all abilities and ages, I teach Literacy to a small group of year 5 children on a daily basis and phonics and reading to a small group of year 2 children once a week.
I also do some 1:1 work with a couple of SEN children.

Tutoring Approach:

I have been tutoring for 5 months now and I believe that the best approach is a relatively informal one with a younger person. Many people who are struggling at school are put off by a strict approach, so I believe in gentle encouragement and a friendly atmosphere. However, there are clearly many pressures, particularly around exam times, so I would do my best to ensure that work gets done!
What I teach is up to the governments standards ( for your child's age) and it will be delivered in many different ways, eg. Games, quizzes, written ext.. so your child has more fun and he/she isn't just writing all the time

About Janice:
I have been teaching for five years and have an open and approachable personality. I enjoy teaching on a one to one basis with all ages and try to build a friendly relationship with my student. I have young children of my own and know how important it is to choose the best person to fulfill your child's potential.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified teacher with five years experience. I work with young people on a one to one basis teaching English, basic literacy (reading and writing) and study skills. I specialise in teaching those with mild learning difficulties such as dyslexia, and have a wide experience of teaching adults as well as children. I can also offer support to those studying for GCSE English.

Tutoring Approach:

I am non-judgmental and allow students to work at their own pace, with no pressure. I tailor my teaching to accommodate the student's learning style including those with a more practical and creative nature. Students will learn best if they are doing something they enjoy, and I make use of educational games and quizzes, sometimes computer based, to reinforce learning. For adult learners I follow the Adult Literacy Core Curriculum as recommended by the government's Department for Children, Schools and Families.

About Maria:
I have had a lot of experience and sucess in teaching the 3-5, 5-11 and adult curriculum. I enjoy tutoring people to encourage them to expand on their skills.

Teaching Experience:

Completed a BA Educational Studies at the University of Edinburgh. This involved placements in Primary 4, 7, 5/6 and nursery. Whilst at university I was involved in teaching drama and life skills to a youth group. I also worked part time in nurseries following the 3-5 curriculum. Since completing my degree I have worked in a college, teaching adults and young people how to access computing and library services.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to audit what is already known and structure a plan that will be followed to expand on the gaps. It is important to build confidence in skills and knowledge that is already present, and engage the learner in something that is meaningful to them.

About Helen:
I have recently graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Biological Sciences. At A-level, I obtained A-grades in physics, maths (mechanics), chemistry and biology so I have a strong scientific background.

I am currently based in Northampton, but will be moving to Leamington Spa from the end of September to do a Masters course at Warwick University. I would be happy to travel some distance (up to around 30 miles) for one-off or irregular tutoring, but this would not be possible on a regular basis. Regularly, I would be able to travel around 5 miles from Leamington on a weekly basis, or tutor in the Northamptonshire area once a fortnight. I can be somewhat flexible though so please get in touch.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught basic biology to large groups of students in Tanzania, as part of a volunteer programme.
When in 6th form, I spent time helping lower school maths lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

Flexible, I would be happy to take a range of approaches, I think that an individual strategy for each student is very important.

About Richard:
My name is Richard Buckley and I hold a Ist class BA(Hons) degree in Chinese Studies from the University of Sheffield. I have also studied at the University of Nanjing in the People's Republic of China and National Cheng-gong University in Tainan City, Republic of China Taiwan.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Mandarin at all levels between beginners and approximately A-level for around eighteen months. I have also taught English as a foreign language in China and served as a trainer of generic transferrable skills in students' unions.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a professional tutoring service which is structured in accordance with the tutee's needs and personal learning style, with a strong emphasis on communicative skills in Mandarin. The initial session will normally seek to establish the learning objectives - to pass an examination within a specified time frame, to be able to speak confidently in holiday situtations, or whatever - and the learning plan and resources to be purchased are formulated around those objectives. My belief is that learning Mandarin is challenging but fun, and that the tutor's role is to spark enthusiasm and facilitate learning.

About Clare:
I'm energetic, driven, fun and hard working. I like to always try my best and expect this from my pupils too. I think learning of any level should be stimulating and fun for everyone involved.

I did a degree in English and American Literature at Manchester University and then went to work in the film industry in costume production. 2 years later I realised that teaching was my future and I haven't looked back since.

I've just got married and moved to the area and am looking to start up some tutoring work and carry on teaching.

Teaching Experience:

3 Years teaching mixed age range class in a primary school in North Devon.
1 year teaching a year 2 class in British council school of Madrid.

Ran a life-drawing class in London for young adults.
Helped run After-school Art class in North Yorkshire.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very adaptable in my teaching. I think it is best to fit your teaching around the pupil rather than the other way round because people all learn and respond in such different ways.
I expect my pupils to work hard and I like to challenge them to stretch themselves. I believe that you need to enjoy yourself whilst working in order to learn in a more effective way so I also try to bring this into my teaching where appropriate.

About Samantha:
I am currently a teacher in a surrey primary school. I have taught across key stage 1 and 2. I was originally trained as a science teacher. I undertook a Zoology degree at University followed by an MSc in Conservation.

Teaching Experience:

I was a science teacher in a middle school, teaching all years from Y6 to Y8. I have taught all subjects within a primary school for the last 5 years and have experience of teaching all year groups.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in finding out what areas the tutee feels they lack confidence in and using that as a starting point for tuition. If they tuition is in preparation for SA Ts or other exams the approach will require a more structured approach ensuring coverage of all the required areas. I firmly believe children should be involved in structuring their own learning evaluating their own performance. This is the approach that my current school also adopts.

About Jordan:
I am 22 years old and am originally from Edinburgh. I have been at the University of Bristol for the past 4 years studying for my MSci Mathematics and Physics. I have just completed my degree with Double First Class Honours and I was also awarded the 'Sir Nevill Mott Award' for the best student on the math-phys course. I am currently living In Brighton with my dad for the summer holidays before I start my Ph.D. in Quantum Physics at Cambridge University.

Teaching Experience:

I was carefully selected out of a large group of students to teach Maths, Physics and Chemistry at a high achieving school in Portishead for three weeks as part of the SAS team (Students Associate Scheme) ran by the University of Bristol. Following a course of teacher training sessions, I was responsible for teaching small groups of GCSE and A-level students. I also assisted in working alongside the teacher in larger classes of 30 students. The role also had many other responsibilities such as conducting pupil interviews and questionnaires and then inputting the results on the school database system. In addition to this, I played a crucial role in the organization and running of the school science week.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very easy going and my approach is fairly informal however I am more than happy to change my teaching approach dependent on my students needs.

About Kasia:
Recent graduate with academic experience in History, English and Media Studies. Also have good knowledge of film studies, teaching English as a foreign subject, and entrance exams/essays or CVs. Flexible and reliable, I cater to the individual's needs and encourage not only knowledge of the desired area, but good studying techniques and practices. I'm calm and patient, and work to the student's pace of learning rather than a specific work schedule.

Teaching Experience:

No academic qualifications, but have tutored foreign students from home for 4 years, and assisted GCSE and A-level students previously. Been involved in several teaching workshops, particularly for children.

Tutoring Approach:

I respect individual approaches to learning, and work out with the student the best way for them to develop. I understand the need to feel comfortable with the material, and attempt to find ways for students to respond individually, rather than force my way of teaching upon them. I prefer to be interactive, rather than completely text-based, and encourage discussion and involvement rather than lectured-style teaching.
