Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / Online
| About Amy: I have a first class degree in English Literature and Creative Writing and can tutor English across all ages. I have experience in tutoring many ages and am patient, kind, and very hard working. I am training to become a primary school teacher, and I love learning and teaching. I am a passionate, friendly, smiley upbeat person and hope to bring that positive energy to everyone I teach. I am available to tutor in Surrey and the six zones of London. I know my way around London and am organised, punctual and reliable. |
Teaching Experience: I am currently training as a primary teacher and have experience working one on one and with groups in a mainstream classroom setting. I have experience of teaching ages 4 to 16 at a Summer Camp in Michigan, USA. I also have experience of tutoring at University level. |
Tutoring Approach: I create an individual learning profile for each person I tutor, and highlight strengths and weaknesses. This profile will adapt as the student learns. I aim to help those I tutor to enjoy what they learn and make steady, monitored progress. I give regular homework which I carefully plan and tailor to the exact needs of the individual, then assess for free. If you are working with set texts I will read them thoroughly so that we can discuss them together and think of ways to tackle potential essay questions. If you do not have any set texts then I am happy to select books for you at an appropriate level. I use lots of positive encouragement and praise at every stage. I try to foster an interest in writing, reading, and open discussion. My main aim is to empower those I tutor so that they become progressively more independent in their learning. |

| About corina: I am a young, friendly, outgoing, serious and fun lady tutor of 26 years old. I have finished the Faculty of Letters, specialized in French-English literature and grammar. I really enjoy teaching people everyday, especially children. Seeing them learning a new word makes me more confident. Very passionate about teaching. I love foreign languages, especially French, which I consider the most beautiful language in the world. Organized, hard-working, fun, good sense of humor. I am looking forward to working with you. |
Teaching Experience: I have tutored all kinds of people, from 6 year old kids to 35 year adults. From grammar, listening, preparation for exams, or just conversation, I took a very good time in making all of them good speakers of foreign languages. 6 years of private tutoring. English and French language, in my own country,Romania. Certified translator in both English and French languages. |
Tutoring Approach: I like to use different types of techniques, depending on the person I teach. For children, fun lessons, games, music, all sorts of interactive activities are the key to success. For adults, a much more mature approach, in order to satisfy their needs. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you
| About Loobna: I am a Physics graduate from the University of Surrey. At present I am doing my PGCE at the University of Reading, training to teach science at secondary level. I am a patient and reliable person and take the responsibility of tutoring seriously, always aiming to help students achieve their full potential. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught in a Saturday school for four years, teaching Maths and English at key stage one and two. I have been working as a private tutor for three years. In that time have tutored at all levels, from key stage one up to GCSE, and have taught Maths and Sciences. I have experience in tutoring students in preparation for SAT's and GCSE exams and also teaching students who are underachieving. |
Tutoring Approach: I am flexible with my approach to tutoring. By first finding out how the student learns best, I tailor my teaching methods to suit them. I teach in line with the student's syllabus and school textbook and give homework to either test a students understanding or allow them to think further about a topic or problem. |

Availability: Weekends / Weekdays (evenings)
Types of Tutoring: Travels to you
| About Barry: I'm currently training for a PGCE, with the aim of becoming a GCSE and A-level Science (Biology) Teacher. I'm a passionate and enthusiastic person with a strong enjoyment of science. My particular passions lie in microbiology and immunology, although I also enjoy physics. Biology has always fascinated me, and I am committed and dedicated to learn more about the current field of research. I am a very sociable person and enjoy making new friends and communicating to a wide range of people. In my spare time I practice thai-boxing, and often take classes. |
Teaching Experience: I have participated in my university study help scheme, and have helped two students achieve excellent grades in their first year modules. I have just completed my degree, however what I lack in experience I make up for in knowledge, passion, awareness and commitment, and I feel that my age is a positive factor in enabling me to associate better with those studying at lower key stages such as GCSE. I think that my enjoyment for the subject is the most important thing, since others will only want to learn if they can see that it is an enjoyable and rewarding subject. I have also taught classes in thai-boxing as mentioned above, as I often help my trainer out and am training for an official qualification. Teaching thai-boxing is immensely difficult as it requires clear explanation, adapting to various types of people and communicating with them as individuals. |
Tutoring Approach: My priority is to approach the student in the way that works best for them, whether it is audio, visual or kinetic. I find that everyone is taught differently, and the requirements for each student is different. Thus I put emphasis on helping the student identify their weaknesses first, and then build on it. I also instill confidence by showing a student their strengths clearly, and giving them a positive goal to work forward to. Whether it's a potential future career, or simply adding relevence of the subject to their life, I find that it is important to find an approach that works before diving in. I would work relatively informally with the student at first, honing in on the key points of the syllabus to tackle. Once this is done, I would then bring material to work through, relevent to the particular study topic. As well as this, I would provide help with essays, coursework or other components, and would encourage the student to email me if they have any urgent questions between tutorial sessions. Above all, I will ensure that I give the student 100% of my effort, and only request that they do the same. |
