About Banerjee:
I am currently a student of MSc. Automotive Engineering at Coventry University.I have done my BSc. Mechanical Engineering from India and have worked as a Marine Engineer for 3 years in Merchant Navy.I have a good record in my academics specially in all the science subjects.I am fluent in verbal as well as written in three languages, English, Hindi and Bengali.

Teaching Experience:

Having studied in a convent in India from the famous Jesuit Father's group, I proudly say that I am a student of St. Xavier's school, a brand all through the world.I have done private tutoring in India about 4 years during my BSc. Engineering days and I have seen tutoring comes naturally to me.Had I not been an engineer I'ld have been a tutor. My prowess in science subjects help me to teach with more authority and confidence.

Tutoring Approach:

As the saying goes, a good tutor necessarily don't need to be a good student rather he needs to be a very patient man and a good orator.I believe to express your knowledge you need to have a very good communicational skill and the thought process should start by thinking on the same way as the student. It helps you to understand what is his/her problem rather finishing your lectures.A tutor is satisfied when he sees his student doing well in assignments.A good student is actually a pride of a tutor.

About Khalid:
I am 33 years old, married and have 3 young children. I enjoy working with children and always try to generate fun enthusiasm for all the subjects I tutor.

Teaching Experience:

I have helped many children achieve their full potential for around 10 years. I have tutored at all levels up to A-level and have taught in small groups as well. I have received lots of praise from parents when the students have received their impressive results. I specialise in exam preparation and achieving exam success.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a relaxed and friendly approach. I always carry out a brief assessment at the start and target weak areas through an agreed plan with the children and parents. Homework is always set after each session and is based upon the work carried out during the session to help reinforce the material covered.

About David:
Thanks for taking the time to look at my profile. I'm David, 25 years old, from Litton Cheney in Dorset. I consider myself to be easy to get along with and enjoy my free time, during which I play football, the guitar and write. Academically I obtained 10 A* and 2 A grades at GCSE and four A grades for my A-levels (biology, chemistry, physics and general studies). My first-class degree from Nottingham University, in the subject of human genetics and for which I obtained the highest mark in my year, was received with honours and I have obtained several awards for outstanding academic achievement. I am currently writing my PhD thesis, for which I spent three years researching congenital heart disease at the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

Teaching Experience:

During my undergraduate degree I was involved in tutoring A-level biology students and hosting undergraduate laboratory sessions. I have also presented my PhD research at several conferences in the UK and Japan.

Tutoring Approach:

I have always been highly motivated in study and have developed revision methods that I still find useful and like to pass on to others. My tuition style would be flexible according to the pupils needs. Areas requiring special attention would be identified and a work plan arranged to give the pupil a good idea of the expectations that the exam board (and I!) expect. I always aim to help the pupil obtain the best mark possible and am happy to spend time outside of tutoring sessions to organise and correct our work.

About Jane:
I recently graduated from the University of Nottingham with a Masters level degree in human nutrition and dietetics. Before completing my degree I studied for A levels in Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Home Economics (Food Science). I therefore feel I would be competent to tutor students in the above subjects.
In September I started a PhD in human nutrition and hope one day to become a university lecturer.

Teaching Experience:

I have gained experience in many areas of teaching/tutoring. I have successfully tutored many students through their GCSEs and A-levels, helping them to achieve the grades they needed to go to university, or pursue their intended career. I have a vast resource of teaching aids and past exam papers, which can be used to help the student gain their highest possible marks..

Tutoring Approach:

I am able to break down large chunks of information into smaller, understandable parts. Through the tutoring experience I have gained I understand that the same approach to teaching will not apply to every student and I am able to adapt my teaching style to each student. Through my own university experience I have found that sticking closely to the syllabus often yields excellent results in examinations.

As I have recently finished my degree I feel I am ideally placed to understand the modern educational process and empathise with any prospective students. I am happy to tutor from my home or travel to you.

Due to my job as a dietitian I have a full CRB check of which I would be more than happy to provide a copy of.

About George:
I am a Physics graduate with a passion for teaching. I have taught many things from maths problem, to how to sail and even once how to drive.

Teaching Experience:

A formal position at the University of Cape Town tutoring. I have around forty hours experience teaching one on one in South Africa. Also I have taught at Sailing Schools before.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe every student is capable of expressing their ability in Science. I believe the student should be allowed to determine how they wish to go about solving their problems, after all if the answer is correct with okay logic why correct it? I use many analogies in my explanations and even the occasional game.

About Christopher:
I am 27 and have recently completed a PHd in applied mathematics at University College London. This added to an undergraduate course in Physics has given me significant experience in a wide range of mathematics covering Mechanics, Pure mathematics and Statistics. For three years during my study I have regularly worked as a private tutor which I greatly enjoy and feel I excel at.

Teaching Experience:

-3 years tutoring at various levels ranging from school to university level , working with in excess of 20 clients.

- Significant experince in tutoring A-level students

- Subject taught include Maths, Statistics, economic mathematics and Physics

Tutoring Approach:

Having worked with such a wide range of clients I have found that each student is unique and will respond to differing tuition approaches. With this in mind my approach always involves a dialogue with the client in order to best establish a plan which will suit their needs.

Needless to say my experience has taught me patience is a major virtue for any tutor and I feel this is a quality which I have.

About Nadeem:
I have a PhD in Mathematics from Cambridge. I have many years of research experience in mechanical engineering at good universities in Europe -- ETH Zurich Switzerland, Cambridge, Imperial College London. This has given me a good knowledge of Physics and Chemistry as well.

Recently, I lectured in Further Mathematics & Statistics at the London South Bank University, and I am currently a Research Scientist at Queen Mary University of London. I am also working for a Cambridge scientific consultancy.

Teaching Experience:

I have lectured in Further Mathematics & Statistics at LSBU as noted above. I have many years of experience tutoring students at universities.

I have developed very good communications skills by giving lectures at workshops, and innumerable talks and presentations at seminars and conferences.

Tutoring Approach:

It is important to develop a warm and friendly relationship between tutor and student. The student must feel comfortable and be able to approach the tutor with questions and problems without any inhibition. I try my best to encourage, talk to and be patient with students.

I combine formal tutoring with questions and answers, homework and small tests to constantly monitor progress. The student must feel that he/she is making progress.

Having taught weak students, I put great emphasis on developing knowledge of the basic elements of the subject which lays the foundations for the rest of the subject.

The rates that I charge are negotiable.

About Indrek:
My name is Indrek Sepp, I am a 21 year old second year student of physics at the University of Durham. I am friendly, approachable and passionate about science and mathematics. I very much enjoy teaching these people in general because I like to show just how fascinating and elegant they can be.

As a sidenote: I can provide confirmation about my CRB check

Teaching Experience:

I achieved three A-Levels at A grade in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry in 2005. I have an intimate understanding of these subjects and being an active student myself I have a methodology to revision and exam preperation which is flexible and applicable to those of all abilities. I have been helping my friends and my siblings to study for their exams which involve Science and Mathematics from my A-levels right up to now with in University. I do this simply because I enjoy tuition for its own sake. I have helped a wide range of people with a wide range of abilities to achieve an understanding of how mathematics and science work.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to simply work through past exam papers in order to give the tutee a familiarity with the type of questions asked, and to gauge their relative strengths and weaknesses. I shall impart my experience and understanding to solidify the former while minimising the latter. The A-level syllabi have not changed fundamentally since my A-levels, neither has the format of the questions, how they are marked and the technique with which to approach them. You will find my tutoring to be straightforward and concise.

I think that the sciences and mathematics are generally not taught very well at school. I believe that excelling in them lies not in learning dozens of formulae but with understanding the simple principles upon which they are built. Not only is this approach more interesting and intellectually rewarding, it also allows you to approach any questions asked in exams with confidence and ease. I am absolutely confident in my ability to prepare prospective tutees to achieve not only their maximal marks in the subjects of Maths, Chemistry and Physics; but also to instil a deeper, more unified understanding and appreciation of them.

About Michael:
I'm a newly graduated Civil Engineer. I work in Leicester for a civil engineering consultancy as a consultant civil engineer and project manager. My work is demanding, but I enjoy the challenges it brings.

Teaching Experience:

I taught swimming and circuit training for 4 years before I started university. I led revision groups at University which formed a kind of trade of information and revision tips between students on my course!

Tutoring Approach:

I provide both short term, exam preparation type tutoring, focusing on the key points in the syllabus in order to help the student improve their exam marks, and long term tutoring which involves reading and working through homework, and a personalised set of goals for the year.

I am always enthusiastic and punctual, and can feel I easily build up a good rapport with children.

About Hons:
I work as a professional engineer and have been for the last 11 years. I have a BSc in engineering.

Maths is a vital part of Engineering and is used everyday to solve problem's such as areas, volumns, forces, stresses, it is the language of science and engineering. Most tutors brush up on their topics a few days before tutoring. Because I use maths everyday, I understand it fluently and should provide great tutoring knowledge.

Many kids feel that mathematics is an abstract and useless subject in life. With my experience I can give fine examples where the maths could be applied, and help change their attitude and views toward Maths.

Calculus is a little rusty but can provide some pointers and help with basic - circle, matrices, vectors, sequences, series, differentiation, integration, induction, at low cost, you provide the books, I'll provide the explaination.

Teaching Experience:

Over the years I haved worked around the UK with various companies large and small. In some of those offices we have taken on secondary school students at GCSE and A level standard for work experience. I was involved in mentoring some of these students with an introduction to engineering design, applying some basic mathematics, which is already taught at GCSE level, technical drawing, use of computer, basic research and management techniques.

As a more experienced engineer now, I have been involved with mentoring our university graduates, although their knowledge is be far greater than that of a secondary school student, the basic communications between people are fundamentally the same.

Tutoring Approach:

From my own experience from studying for exams, learning topics off by heart and not understanding it had been a problem. Some people are good at maths and others are not. For those of us who are in between it's a difference between a C grade or a B grade.

It is important to see where the pupils weaknesses are and the topics which they are struggling to grasp. I would provide time and effort to try and explain in the best way the more difficult topics so that the student will understand it better. With the topics which the student has a good understanding of, it would only be a matter of more practise.

It is assumed that the topics have been covered in school already and that the tutoring session is a means to advance the students understanding of the topics by further explaination and practise.

Recap - all and all, it is most vital to be able to recap and remind oneself of all the topics before the exam. Once the student has a good understanding of all the topics, I can provide a quick recap session to briefly run through all the theory to refresh the students mind.

If it is necessary to tutor more than one student at a time, I will only charge 75% rate for each additional student up to a maximum of 4 per hour.

On a one to one basis, I can run through the topics and aid the student on some problems. In a small group, it can best be divided up into 15 minute intervals where the first 15 minutes is spent on theory , followed by practise with a 15minutes 1on1 basis depending on the numbers, similar to a tutorial class.

Should a study session be longer than 1 hour, I suggest 2x45 minutes, similar to a standard double lesson or lecture with a 10-15 minutes break in between.

Circular Motion, Gravitational Force, Centrifugal Force were some of the toughest topics in higher A-level physics. Can help out with tutorials.

I can provide tutoring up to a 10mile radius from where I am located.

About Peter:
I am a male self-employed private tutor and proof-reader, semi full time. I am a graduate of University of Leicester Physics & Astronomy department. I have my own vehicle and am willing to travel to see students. I am an English native speaker.

Teaching Experience:

Extensive experience of A level physics & maths tuition. Maths & physics to university level, including maths for engineers. Experience of tutoring students of ages ranging from Key Stage 3 to adult. I also have wide experience of proof-reading academic work, which I can do online.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to meet students in their own home or at their university library, if applicable. My approach is focused on problem-solving and exam preparation. I find that a deeper understanding of the mathematical sciences can only come about with confidence in mathematics and problem solving. I am happy for the student to take the lead by highlighting areas that are a problem for them. I'm willing to meet students for one-off lessons, help with coursework, or as much as weekly over the course of the academic year.
For proof-reading, I usually take the document by email as a Word file and edit using the "track changes" function, meaning extensive retyping is unnecessary.
