About Meghali:
I am a person who enjoys meeting and interacting with people, and have particular experience with children. My love for Theatre and Drama has developed me into an articulate and expressive individual with good communication skills, and I continue to be a part of various theatrical activities at Durham University.
I consider myself culturally sensitive, and find beauty in the diversity different locations have to offer. I feel I am able to adapt to new surroundings and challenging situations very well, having lived in many different parts of the world. Consecutively, cooking is another interest of mine, and I take delight in experimenting with cuisine from different countries. About Remus:
I'm a professional tutor and philologist with a history of getting results fast through a self-designed language teaching programme that throws away such antiquated ideas as learning by rote and emphasises learning through interaction and activities.

Teaching Experience:

In my four years of teaching at all levels, I've had a 100% rate of success, with beginners getting to an advanced level in a matter of a few months. Previous tutees have gone on to pass exams, home and foreign universities, and to work abroad in a country of their chosen language.

Tutoring Approach:

An individual approach is the cornerstone of my approach to tutoring. I personally tailor my tutelage for each student, taking into account their strengths, weaknesses, interests and aspirations. I dislike the approach of teaching a few phrases by rote - my central aim as a tutor is to teach each tutee how to express themselves.

About Daniel:
I am a trainee primary school teacher in university specialising in music. Myself being a trainee reflects on my cost per hour compared to other tutors. I would be happiest teaching music skills, however I would happy to do literacy, maths, science, music or I.T. at primary school level.

Musically I have a BTEC national diploma in music technology before starting my degree, I can play guitar, bass, drums and keyboards. I can currently accommodate guitar, bass and keyboards at basic levels and guitars at a slightly more advanced level. I would be happy to help out with GCSE music and have the music technology available to help pupils with their composition side of GCSE coursework allowing to record their compositions on their instruments, sing on their composition and have other instruments involved just by having keyboard and computer skills.

On a personal experience level I have been in bands since my days in school which has involved me releasing two digital singles with different labels, playing a major European music festival and touring other places around England and Wales.

Teaching Experience:

I am going in to the second year of my degree. I have undertaken placements in primary school which has involved me teaching units of maths, literacy and lessons of music. This year I will be taking another placement in a primary school along with doing some music based tutoring in groups.

Tutoring Approach:

I will teach children what they want to learn. Whether it is what they are currently doing at school or whether they are learning an instrument as a hobby. I will offer the children free recording of some of their lessons so they have something to show for their time spent learning and they can hear their progress and show off at home!

About Khurum:
I am a passionate, confident and energetic private tutor who can ensure your child achieves their expected level if not higher. I have an excellent tutoring record from boosting pupil confidence so that they can perform better in exams and coursework to pupils passing selective entrance exams thereby achieving their ambitions.

I am realistic and set measurable yet challenging targets for my private students. I strongly believe in that if a student works hard and is dedicated, they will achieve their ambitions and desires. I have and always will endeavour to deliver at the highest level to achieve this.

Teaching Experience:

I have worked in primary and secondary schools since I was reading for my Biochemistry degree at King's College London. I have worked as a school mentor and teaching assistant before embarking on my teacher training course. I have gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education Studies qualification from Keele University. As part of this course, I had placements in 3 different schools both primary and secondary. I have been a private tutor since 2002. Despite being new to this role, I'm very energetic and full of ideas which have guaranteed success. Being young is advantageous as I can motivate your child to perform at their best if not higher.

Tutoring Approach:

Confident, dedicated and passionate approach, using a wide range of teaching methods tailored to how your pupil learns. My lessons are enjoyable and exciting, which I feel is important so that the pupil doesn't lose interest. I also have the ability to adapt the pace of the lessons thereby sustaining the pupils attention and concentration. I use a wide range of resources depending on the level of study. For example, for a GCSE Maths student, as part of their homework, I assign sufficient GCSE exam-style questions right from the beginning so that the pupil is able to come to terms with the standard required of them.

I use a wide range of textbooks and other literature as appropriate.

I have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, which I use to ensure parents are aware of their child's progress and to inform them of my future lessons.

About Lisa:
I am a mother of 4 children, I have also worked professionally with children for over ten years. I worked and studied part-time for several years and I have a degree in childhood studies, a foundation degree in Early Years and Education, a University certificate in Health and Social Care and I have Qualified teacher status and an enhanced CRB check. I am currently studying for my masters degree in education.

As a parent I have experienced helping my own children ( aged 7 - 15) with their homework, revision for SATs, and also revision for 11+ exams. In addition to this, two of my own children have specific learning difficulties so I am aware of strategies to use to support children with special needs.

Teaching Experience:

Professionally I was initially a teaching support assistant, where I worked with both groups and individual children from year 1 to year 6 supporting them with different aspects of the curriculum. This included working with children with special educational needs. I then qualified as a teacher and I have taught in year one, year two, year three and year five. This has meant that I have taught all curriculum subjects at a variety of levels over the past few years. I work in an inner city school, and so have extensive experience of supporting children who have English as an additional language.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a calm and flexible approach to tutoring. I believe that a tutoring approach has to be child specific. Due to this I always take into account; where the child is currently academically, what the child's preferred learning style is, the child's strengths and weaknesses, and also their personality before I make any decisions on my specific approach.

About Katharine:
I graduated from De Montfort University in July 2008 with a BA Hons degree in English and Media Studies, with a 2:1. I have always wanted to be a teacher and I now am studying for my PGCE at Solihull College.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach a resit GCSE English class at Solihull College for pupils aged 16-60, who may or may not have already attempted their GCSE, but for whatever reason need to redo it. I also work at Henley College, Coventry as a Literacy Lecturer for adults who require support with literacy skills.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that the best way to help people to succeed is to give them the confidence to try. From my experience, the biggest set back that people have is not being comfortable to try to learn, and so I think that it is very important to create a strong relationship between tutor and student so that the student feels that they can ask for help when they need it. I am a recent graduate, and so although this means that I may not have as much teaching experience as other tutors, I do remember what it is like to be a student myself - this helps me to understand students' needs and to help them to succeed.

About Aleha:
I am a University of Birmingham Medical Biochemistry and Toxicology Post Graduate who has been working in the NHS for the last 10 years. I lead a team of medical scientists on a daily basis and also train and educate other scientists.

I have a passion for imparting knowledge. I am a very sociable, amicable person who has a genuine desire to teach, motivate and mentor our future generation. I wish to help create intelligent and confident young minds and guide them onto the path to success in every aspect of life.

Teaching Experience:

I have no formal teaching qualifications, however I have exceptionally high academic achievements and teach graduates and undergraduates the principles of medical science and analytical chemistry.

I have also tutored several members of my family and friends, who have gone onto Grammar Schools, University and are successful in their current careers.

Tutoring Approach:

My philosophy is that "wisdom grows from study". Children posses the greatest and most intelligent minds. As a tutor, my job is to nurture and bring out the best in a child. Encouragement and enthusiasm is what drives children and makes them want to learn more and strive to succeed.
I believe in repeating and practising subject areas which are difficult. Setting attainable targets and helping a child achieve such targets is a pleasure. Every child is intelligent and has an abundance of potential and energy. I hone in on that energy, and encourage them to have self belief to reach their full potential. All it takes is a little patience and perseverance.
Through study, every child will learn to be focused, disciplined, mature, wise and self confident.
That is what I aim to teach.
My subject knowledge, is superb, in all the areas that I teach.

About Leela:
I am a fun, confident and friendly person who loves to be able to give others the opportunity to better themselves and learn more about specific subjects. I am a very organised individual and like to expect this same attitude from the person I am teaching. At A-Level I achieved full marks for one of my English Literature papers and achieved 2 A's and a B. I have a Bsc (Hons) degree in Speech and Language Therapy from University College London which is now 7th in the world rankings, and have received the degree prize for achieving best theory to practice application. Due to my university being very academic, I have had to adopt an organised and professional attitude to my studies and hope that this is reflected in my teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have done tutoring at GCSE level before for French and found this extremely rewarding and so would like to continue tutoring for other subjects such as Biology, Drama and English Literature. I like to be very visual with my students for example doing spider diagrams, brain storms and always making sure that the understand something before moving onto a new topic. I have also done "Teaching English as a Foreign Language" (TEFL) abroad for a summer where I taught in a deaf school in Bangalore, India. This developed my patience greatly and made me learn new and valuable skills. Throughout my degree, I have had the opportunity to teach young children from 2 years right up to 16 years how to deal with their speech and language problems and adapt my teaching to suit their levels of understanding.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a no-nonsense approach to tutoring as I expect my students to put in 110% each time, as I do for them. I like to be visual and create worksheets that will help them understand the material much better. I am also very encouraging and like to clarify that my student understands something before moving onto a new topic. I hope to gain trust with my students so that they also feel comfortable enough to tell me all the problems they have with their studies so I can do my best to help them through this.

About yvonne:
I am married with no children and enjoy teaching very much. I have a range of interests outside of education. I particularly enjoy reading, crafts, swimming, cycling and running. I am interested in conservation and have involved the children at my school in a number of projects, including the development of a school vegetable garden. I think the children I teach would describe me as patient, calm and kind. I believe it is important that children have the opportunity to develop a their own pace and encouraged to find their own particular skills and talents.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in the Primary sector for the last 26 years and have been at my current school for the last 10 years. Most of my experience has been with Foundation Stage/Key stage 1, although I have also taught Key Stage 2 Children. I have experience especially of teaching Year 2 children and so have a good understanding of the requirements for the Key Stage 1 SATS. I have tutored children of this age on a regular basis.

Tutoring Approach:

I always start by assessing the pupil to find the pupils level of attainment and identify strengths and areas for development. I believe it is important to break the learning up into manageable steps and to set targets for the pupil that are easily attainable. By doing so, the pupil develops greater confidence and is more likely to progress further and faster. Depending on the individual needs of the pupil, an individual programme of work can be developed, that will ensure individual learning styles are catered for.

About Ellie:
I am a student reading law at the University of Birmingham. I have an excellent academic record from one of the top grammar schools in the country (Sutton Girls). I have A-levels in English (B) and History (A) and GCSEs in Maths (A*) and Music (A). I also take singing lessons privately and can play a number of instruments to a sufficient standard to assist in general primary level music teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have 2 years experience of being a general assistant in a private maths and english tutor group. I have no other official teaching experience but I have worked with children in a number of capacities including leadership roles and I am highly competent in the above subjects at the levels offered.

Tutoring Approach:

For primary level children, I can offer supplementary tutoring to complement formal education in maths and am willing to extend this to assistance in preparation for KS2 SATs. In music, I offer teaching of the reading of music in the context of various instruments; this will include a rudimentary understanding of key and time signatures. Reading music is an underrated skill that may come in useful in unexpected situations. It would, of course, also greatly assist the learning process of any child considering learning a musical instrument.

For GCSE-level, I offer syllabus-specific tutoring in preparation for GCSEs. Preferred exam boards are AQA for English and OCR for History but I will consider alternatives if requested.

Please note that where tutoring is for exams, I may charge an extra fee for any materials needed such as practise exam papers.

I acknowledge that I do not have much in the way of qualifications, however I have worked with children in many capacities including tutoring and while I am young, my age has generally been an advantage in terms of relating to young people. All the subjects I am offering are those which I have great interest in and have studied very recently. My fees are low to compensate for my lack of professional experience, but this is not a reflection on the quality of the services I offer.

About Philip:
I'm a 34 year old freelance writer and tutor who possesses a BSc Honours degree in Applied Biology as well as a Masters degree in Professional writing. I have written radio plays for BBC radio as well as features for magazines and newspapers in the Southwest. In addition, I have travelled widely in Europe teaching English and so have a broad understanding of other countries and cultures. As well as my native English I also speak Spanish.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught English as a foreign language for nearly eight years and have taught in Poland, Greece, France, Spain and the UK. During those years I have taught all levels from elementary to advanced level and from young children to older adults. In addition, to teaching English as a foreign language, I also teach creative writing courses in Bristol from people wanting to learn more about the creative process especially novels and short stories.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in being prepared for all situations in the classroom which means my approach to lesson planning is very through and organised. My teaching manner is relaxed as I want my students to feel comfortable on order to gain as much knowledge as possible in the allotted time. This is especially important in one-to-one lessons. I endeavour to use my own materials wherever possible and depending on the level make them relevant to current topics and events. This is particular important when teaching advanced level English Language or Biology. Needless to say I am always punctual and smart.

About Lyndsey:
My name is Lyndsey Oliver and I am currently undertaking a Music Journalism degree. I have qualifications in Journalism, English and I.T. I am an honest hardworking individual, and love to help others succeed.

Teaching Experience:

Although I have no direct teaching experience it has always been a passion of mine. I have helped my younger cousin through her school life as she is dyslexic. I provided on-going support and made her feel totally at ease with all subjects that she completed. I have recently helped my brother in law undertake his GCSE's and my husband undertake a course in Maths and English in his Learn Direct course. Both of whom were dyslexic. I have also undertaken work experience in a primary school, and have helped others in both my college and university life during studying.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel that a relaxed style benefits tutees greatly. Deadlines and an enthusiasm are essential to my style. Although my style is rather informal (I prefer first name terms and a friendly approach) I am able to stay disciplined and helpful.

About Kasi:
I am currently an English Literature student, studying for my first degree and about to begin my final year. I wish to tutor as I think it is a fun way to use the skills I have acquired to help others, as well as make a little bit of extra money while I learn.

I have A-levels in English Literature, Psychology, Philosophy, English Language, as well as Maths, Photography, Critical Thinking and General Studies. I have eleven GCSE's, included in this is Drama and Graphic Design, as well as Religious Studies. In my first year of University i took combined study of Drama and English Literature, but have chosen to specialise.

I have been awarded two scholarships from my University, the first is for Academic Excellence for the high scores achieved in my A-Levels and my continuing progress through my course, and the second is a foundation scholarship, awarded to students who have helped out their colleges or schools for attending university. I was part of my college student council, and the university student council during my first year.

I also volunteer with young people aged 13-25 at the Tate Art Gallery on a number of different projects, often in conjunction with the police or with AdAction.

Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience stems from my work with young people. This experience is not just artistic, it allows for people from many different life styles to come together and learn, with the art as the basis. I have worked with youths from Birkenhead, teaching them photography myself, and as a teaching assistant for the other parts of the classes, so that they could later get onto an art foundation course. I have also worked with young refugee's, teaching them to cook for themselves, and with groups of difficult teenagers who had been involved with alcohol and drugs, attempting to get them interested and involved in other areas.

Overall my teaching experiences have been varied and beneficial.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to attempt my best to make the subject matter and work fun and enjoyable. I understand as a student myself that this is not always so, but even if the work itself is not the students favourite, the way in way they learn can be always made to be enjoyable rather than a chore.

Having taken courses on learning skills, i know different approaches to how different people learn, and using these skills I feel I will be able to help students find what is the best way to study for themselves, not only for that moment, but for the future so they can take this skill away from our lessons and apply it with in all other classes.

If you wish me to be able to travel to you, then my travelling expenses must be paid for. Anywhere within a 2 mile, or 5 mile radius that can be travelled to by bus will mean adding an extra 3 to the cost of the tutoring session.
(If you have paid for a 1 hour session this will make the full price 15+3 = 18, and a 2 hour session would be 2x!5 = 30 + 3 = 33, and so on for however many hours are booked at once.)

About Julia:
I am from Northern Ireland, but lived in England and Spain for some time, therefore if teaching English to adults from other countries, I speak very clearly. I am very flexible and gear each class to the needs of the individual requiring tuition. I can help with understanding regional dialects.

I have had great success tutoring Spanish and French (0) levels, also have helped young learners who absolutely hate languages, as I find out what their hobbies and interests are (ie football, fashion, Simpsons, pop music or film etc)--- and theme the classes accordingly.

I also have classes for very young children with lots of puppets, songs, colouring in etc.

My "Spanish for your Holidays classes" are extremely practical and popular with people thinking of moving to Spain

Teaching Experience:

I have 14 years experience teaching English and Drama in schools, universities, and further education colleges, also community clases, both in Northern Ireland. and in Spain, where I lived for some time and taught in a bilingual grammar school , also in Spanish academies-- so have a very good Spanish accent.

My French accent is also excellent according to French people I have talked to and I have Italian family, so although I don't tutor past beginners level in Italian the accent is good.

Tutoring Approach:

As I said above, extremely flexible and geared to the needs, lifestyle, intertests of the individual ie practical Spanish ---how to get around, order and buy food, talk to medics, banking terms etc for someone moving to Spain,---- football based lessons for the 13 year old who hates French but is mad about football (this led to a boy whose despairing mother brought to me actually loving french--- I gave him some football terms which his friends in 1st year didn't know and he acquired a "status"at school , ---oral tuition for GCSES, IELTS classes all grades, beginners English, -- every class is planned and individually geared to the person I am going to teach.
With people from other countries I am patient and helpful.

I have had good results with a lot of (A)sand (A+)S
