| About Shaun: I am a friendly, easy going person from Newcastle. I love travelling and have travelled around the world. I love teaching and helping people learn and I hope this comes through when I teach. |
Teaching Experience: I currently work as an English and A-level Media Studies Teacher in a secondary school in Newcastle Upon Tyne. I have three years teaching experience. I am also studying a Masters in Teaching and Learning. |
Tutoring Approach: I take an interactive approach to tutoring. I try to install the necessary tools in people to enable them to learn about their learning. I try to not dictate or simply talk at people. I assume the role of facilitator with the aim of bringing out the learning as this has greater long term benefits. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / From their home / Online
| About Aisha: I am 31 years old and a mother of two children. I have more than 8 years of teaching experience in London Primary Schools. I have taught both KS1 and KS2. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught in Primary Schools as a KS1 and 2 teacher. I have also had the opportunity of being a subject co-ordinator and a year leader. I have also had the experience of being a private tutor and I have also taught in a specialised Saturday School. Here I was also responsible for training students for the 11+ exams and the SATS. |
Tutoring Approach: When I start tutoring children, I offer them an initial assessment, which can be both written or oral. Only upon the findings of this assessment and after discussing with both the childrens parents and the children about their weaknesses I plan the next course of action. However all tuition schools run by different theories and I am willing to adapt my approach. |

Types of Tutoring: From their home / Online
| About Kimrose Suetassha: I have over six years of teaching experience and two years of tutoring privately. Most of my teaching experience has been gathered working with SEN pupils; Dyslexics and students with Dyscalculia in particular. To enable students to reach their full potential I understand that there is the need to be consistent, patient, creative and supportive when tutoring and this I endeavour to do on all tutoring occasions. Seeing a pupil master an area that had been previously hard to grasp brings me the greatest joy. |
Teaching Experience: 2003-Present: Head of ICT & Maths Teacher, Mill Hill County High School, Oak Hill Campus (Specialist EBD school), East Barnet, London 2002 September-2003 October: Special Needs Teacher of ICT/Business, Brooke House Sixth Form College, Hackney, London. January 2002-April 2002: Teacher of ICT/PSHE, Bridgeport High School, Jamaica September 2000-November 2000: Greater Portmore Primary School, Jamaica |
Tutoring Approach: I believe in empowering my tutees to find and to solve problems with my help as opposed to being totally reliant on me for the answers. Additionally, I prefer not to be overly intrusive but endeavour to guide and support pupils as much as possible and give them as much resources as they need. I understand that not all tutees are the same. I will personalise resources to meet each tutee's need. |

| About Kirstine: I am a young but experienced Social Science tutor. I have a BSc in Psychology and a PGCE in social science subjects. I am currently working part time, teaching AQA A Level Psychology, as well as looking after my one year old daughter. I am due to start a Masters research degree in Applied and Social Psychology in September. |
Teaching Experience: I am an experienced teacher and have predominately taught Psychology A Level for the past four years. I have worked in grammar schools with high achieving students but have also coached those with special educational needs. I have previous experience of being a home tutor for both Psychology (AQA and EdExcel) and Sociology (AQA and OCR) A Level specifications. |
Tutoring Approach: My approach is to prepare my students for the examination. I foster independent learning skills by setting up situations where the tutee has to prepare exam answers as well as questions, which are then discussed, reworked and revised in the next session. I expect my tutees to be familiar with mark schemes, examiners reports and past paper sample answers. This learning is supported by various forms of media and techniques, including mind maps, quizzes and powerpoint presentations. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / From their home / Online
| About Philip: My personal and vocational interests are varied and range from Gardening to International Politics. I have a passion for reading and culture, making me informed and knowledgeable in a wide variety of subjects. My weekends are spent walking my Dog in the countryside, which helps me to collect my thoughts and allows me to appreciate life outside of the City in which I spend most of my life. While I currently work as a part-time teacher and journalist, I have held many positions of varying responsibility. Throughout these professional experiences, I have been engaged in some form of teaching or training and have taught a wide diversity of people in a range of subjects. |
Teaching Experience: Having been a gardener for many years, the first subject I taught was gardening and landscaping, which was for long-term unemployed people who were working on environmental regeneration projects. Since then, I have taught in various colleges and for many charities and training providers. My teaching qualification is in adult education, but I have experience working with young people, as well as excluded pupils and (ex-)offenders. My teaching has usually been in Media- or English-related subjects, but I have also taught Critical Thinking, Sociology and Film Studies, to name but a few. |
Tutoring Approach: My main aim is to ensure that tutor and tutee respect each other and are able to talk to each other properly. While passing exams is important, creating a space in which ideas and thoughts can be shared is also necessary to assist with the learning process. Being a qualified teacher, I am able to assist you in your educational development. As a person, I am able to help you and ensure that you get more out of the experience than just a piece of paper. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / From their home / Online
| About Robert: I have recently finished my Masters degree and am currently working towards a PHD. I have a passion for education, and specifically politics and philosophy as subjects essential to any young adult. |
Teaching Experience: I have tutored successfully for two years. I have also taught on a part time basis in a Large London College. |
Tutoring Approach: I have always approached education and learning in two ways: the importance of the subject and achievement in examination. I feel that it is necessary to explore the relevance and importance of it outside of the directly examined area. I think for all subjects it is essential to pay attention to the broader issues around it in the media, in society and in history. Through this method not only are avenues of interest opened, but a more holistic learning made possible. Alongside this it is necessary to keep focused upon the primary end of education in our times: Results. As achievement is measured in examination results, preparation in this area should play a central role. I always believe exam practice and learning with exam questions in mind is the safest and most effective way of guaranteeing results. This does not mean blindly learning exam answers but rather enabling learning through looking at exam skills and technique. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / Online
| About kevin: I have over seven years experience tutoring privately. I particularly enjoy seeing a pupil master an area that had been previously inaccessible to that pupil and sharing the joy that is felt. Most of my teaching experience has been gathered working with SEN pupils and I am well aware of the need to be consistent, patient, creative and supportive when tutoring - all qualities that I possess in abundance. |
Teaching Experience: 2004-Present: Head of English/History, Mill Hill County High School, Oak Hill Campus (Specialist EBD school), East Barnet London 2004 Jan-2004 Jul: teacher of English/SEN, Lea Valley High School, Enfield London. Specialist Sports College and mixed secondary school catering to over 1000 pupils, 45% of whom are statemented as having SEN. Sep 2003-Jan 2004: Teacher of Geography/SEN, Wandle Valley EBD school, Carshalton Surrey 1999-2003: Teacher of History/English/Citizenship, Charlie Smith High School, Kingston Jamaica |
Tutoring Approach: I prefer not to be overly intrusive. I will guide and support pupils as much as possible and give them as much resources as they need. However, i do believe in encouraging pupils to learn at their own pace and within the constraints of their respective learning styles. I believe in empowering my tutees to 'discover' and to solve problems with my help as opposed to being totally reliant on me for the answers. |
