Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / From their home / Online
| About Helen: I am 22 years old and have recently graduated with a BA(Hons) in English Studies at the University of Durham. In October I will be starting a taught Masters' course in twentieth-century literature at Reading University. But between July and late-September I will be based in Leicestershire. I am a keen musician and play violin, piano and self-taught saxophone. I took History to A2 Level and have covered most periods to a greater or lesser extent. At GCSE and A-level, this has included a more in-depth study of the Tudor monarchy and the rebellions and religious changes that occurred during this time; the Spanish monarchy in the same period; the events of both World Wars; the effect of the Great Depression (1930s) on Germany and the USA; and an overview of the Cold War. I have taken Maths to AS Level and have a number of methods that are designed to help overcome the frustration and anxiety that is often felt when answers don't come easily. I also have a basic knowledge of French that would be suitable for tutoring someone in the fundamental principles and vocabulary of the language. |
Teaching Experience: I have done voluntary work at a primary school with children aged 4-7, assisting their learning through play and games, hearing them read, and ensuring that concentration is maintained during the tasks set them. I have also assisted younger family friends with revision techniques for GCSEs. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that the importance of being self-aware about our own learning styles can never be underestimated. Once we understand the particular ways in which we process, learn and express information, it suddenly becomes a lot easier to tackle the things that are thrown at us and to deal with specific areas of weakness. With this in mind, my approach to tutoring will be largely focused on helping the tutee to develop tools that will allow them to become independent learners. I will tailor my methods to the needs of the tutee, concentrating particularly on material they feel uncertain about, but also looking at more general aspects if required or pertinent. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / From their home / Online
| About Stephanie: I am a 23year old Australian female who has been in Belfast for 3 months, previsouly living in London working with children aged0-12years. I have completed my HSC with subjects such as English, Maths, Ancient History and Social Studies. (Equiv to GSCE and also A Levels). I have an avid interest in English, children's literature and it was always a strong subject at school. From 2003-2005 I complted 3 years of a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) degree. We also focused very much so on English as well as HSIE, which is current affairs, the environment and social studies |
Teaching Experience: Throughout University, I carried out 2 Practicals each year with children, most of them being in Primary schools, focusing on the age range of 5-11years, therefore most of my experience is within that age range. I am currently tutoring my bosses daughter in Mathematics, P3 and P4 levels. I also worked as a Child Development Officer in Australia, monitoring foster children's Academic progress in their new homes and tutoring them if required. |
Tutoring Approach: In order for children to grasp certain appraoches, I strive to make Mathematics and English tutoring fun by creating problems and experiences/activities that relate to their lives, their interests or something that they can have fun with. This way they try harder to learn and are actually intersted in the concepts/activities. I encourage this be done one on one so the child can focus more, rather than being in a group of 30 students. I also encourage the student to ask questions, and promote confidence as I sometimes believe classrooms don't have time for this. I also believe that revision and repeating problems/formulas/concepts is essential to productive learning. |

| About Greg: I am a primary school teacher with years of experience in the education systems of both the U.K and Canada. My experience gives me insight into current curriculum demands and methods to give your child the best possible assisstance in improving their attainment and preparing them for the challenges of school. I have many years experience working with children in both individual and group situations in and out of the classroom. |
Teaching Experience: I have four years of teaching experience both in Canada and in the U.K. For the past three years I have been teaching in the U.K. as a year six teacher at a London primary school. Our SAT's results have been near the top of the league tables and well above the national average. This past year 97 % of my maths and science class scored level 4 and above, 88 % of my english class scored at level 4 and above. I am bilingual and have experience teaching French to students aged 7-18. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that each child needs a different approach to tutoring. There are multiple types of learners and each different type needs a different approach. Each child needs an individualised approach to best meet their educational needs and the best way to determine the proper approach is to sit down with each child and come up with the approach that will best suit the learner. |

| About bob: I'm currently studying for a PhD in the London Centre for Nanotechnology, based at University College London in the field of frustrated magnetism. I am therefore knowledgeable in all areas of physics including thermal, nuclear, statistical and quantum physics as well as electronics and optics as well as my own field. Teaching Experience: I have taught as a laboratory demonstrator to first and second year undergraduates. I have also taught first year undergraduates, aiding them to solve problems for themselves by encouraging a broad understanding of underlying physical principles in classes at UCL. In addition to this I have demonstrated to undergraduate students in mathematics classes, helping them to understand the basic art of problem solving in mathematics by reducing questions into well known forms before solution. NOTE: IF YOU REJECTED MY TUTORING OFFER IN ERROR I CAN NO LONGER CONTACT YOU. PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER OFFER OR I CAN'T GET BACK TO YOU. |

| About Rebecca: I am a young, patient and approachable person. I like to teach in a relaxed way which engages students fully in lessons. I care about the achievements of all of my pupils and do my utmost to allow students to achieve their best. I am a teacher in a sucessful North London school and work very hard for all my students. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught in 2 north London schools at key stage 3 and key stage 4 for general science and A level for biology which is my specialist subject. I graduated with a 1st class hons. degree in microbiology from Imperial College and have A levels in maths, biology and RS. I am experienced in tutoring both maths and science and am happy to offer a combination of both or either individually. I was a part of a department that received an outstanding status from Ofsted and have been involved in extensive revision sessions for GCSE students. |
Tutoring Approach: I have a relaxed and calm approach to teaching and to tutoring. I expect pupils to respond and to contribute to my lessons . I have tutored my present A2 class for their exams in which they did very well. I am passionate about science and do not want to put anyone off by a strict or too rigid approach to the subject. For exam revision I find the best way is to work from a range of exam papers and questions and then to focus in on the various aspects. In this way pupils can understand everything about a topic and learn how it fits in with the rest of the subject as well as the necessary details. I am also very happy to do one of revision sessions if needed. |

| About Chris: Hello there I am 23 and I have recently returned from Moscow where I spent a year working as a Russian-English translator and editor. I gained lots of experience over the year translating a wide variety of documents including legal contracts, stock exchange reports and real estate evaluations. I graduated from Sheffield University in 2007 with a 1st in Russian, Spanish and Swedish and as part of my course I spent a year studying at universities in St. Petersburg and Seville. Over years of study I have consistently achieved excellent grades and I would confidently be able to explain grammar and the techniques necessary for oral and written exams in Russian and Spanish. My interests are varied ranging from contemporary dance to martial arts. At university I spent three years acting in a Spanish theatre group. I also enjoy doing art, reading and travelling. |
Teaching Experience: Volunteer tutoring primary school children at an after-school club in Sheffield. |
Tutoring Approach: I am very flexible and am able to adapt to meet required needs such as grammar, vocabulary or general help. I am highly organised and would be able to plan lessons effectively in order to provide the best assistance. |

| About Morgan: My name is Morgan. I am a French male student who lives in London since September 2006. I am 20. I plan to stay in London for at least 3 more years. First I was an Aupair (from September 2006 to October 2007) then I worked at the Odeon cinema for 9 months. I am fanatic about films and cinema. This is not only an hobby as I study Film and Television at the University of Westminster. Also I really like languages. Since I teach French, I have learnt lot of things about my own language. |
Teaching Experience: 2 years experience in London with students of different ages (from 10 to 50 years old) and nationalities. I started to teach French when I arrived in London. I taught 3 persons last year. I teach 5 people at the moment. They all got different levels but all of them have made very good improvement and want to continue next year. Plus when I was an aupair I helped the children I was looking after with their homeworks. |
Tutoring Approach: My lessons cover: - Writing - Speaking - Reading - An approach of French culture. I am very involved and interested in finding new ways of teaching. I try to work with different teaching aids such as videos, songs, articles...to make each lesson INTERESTING and INSTRUCTIVE. -Email assistance possible if you need extra help -Work marked every week. -Every month evalution to make sure all the work is absorbed. Anyone should enjoy learning any language |

| About Gill: I am a college lecturer who is working in the sixth form in college. As well as teaching history I also specialise in English language, as well as being a dylexia specialist. With regard to the teaching of dyslexic students, I work with them on a one to one basis and have had a great deal of success with my methods. |
Teaching Experience: I have had many years experience of teaching, having worked with adults as well as younger students. I currently teach GCSE, A/AS level and mentor and coach university teaching students . |
Tutoring Approach: I sincerely believe that tutoring is a highly personal process - a tutor has to adapt to suit the needs of their students and obviously take into account their learning needs. I take a 'personalised' view of teaching my students and tailor each learning plan to their individual needs. |

Types of Tutoring: Travels to you / From their home
| About Harikrishn: Currently at University of London, QMW. I have previous experience of teaching A-levels in physics and mathematics to students. I am friendly and approachable by most students, and have experience in teaching to adults. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught A/AS-level in physics of all exam boards as well as mathematics, and have accomedated degree tuition before. Teaching of all A-level maths core courses from C1-C4, as well as M1 and M2 provided. |
Tutoring Approach: you would have noticed my low rates as it is because of an initiative to get students interested in physics hopefully , as well as passing their exams. The cost goes towards the resources and past exam papers for students to practice, in preparation for their exam. I can do home visits if requested, this would help most students, as learning in their own environment is more beneficial for them. |
