Elena - Newbury tutor

Information About Elena:

Personal Description:

Even after 25 years of being a teacher, I absolutely love History and teaching young people. I enjoy breaking things down and seeing the light bulb moment when it all makes sense. I really try to focus on making sure that the session is relaxed and happy, as that is when the best learning happens. So humour and a little chat is always important. I love to see students growing in confidence and having more self-belief in themselves.

Teaching Experience:

Over the course of my 25-year career, I have had a lot of experience ensuring that students receive targeted feedback and support so that they can reach their potential at GCSE and A Level and have helped many students to achieve more than they thought they could. I have taught a significant number of students who have gone on to read History at Oxbridge and Russell Group Universities, as well as students who have had SEN needs including autism, dyslexia and learning difficulties. I have detailed knowledge of different exam boards at both GCSE and A Level and am working as an examiner at GCSE and A Level.

Tutoring Approach:

. I really try to focus on making sure that the session is relaxed and happy, as that is when the best learning happens. So humour and a little chat is always important. I love to see students growing in confidence and having more self-belief in themselves. I always discuss what the student wants to achieve and taylor the sessions accordingly. I include a lot of oral questions throughout the session to check for understanding. I also provide revision resources and revision techniques. I also suggest going through exam questions together and then I will mark anything that the students complete.
