Joseph - Northampton tutor
Information About Joseph:
Personal Description:
I am a qualified Mathematics and Economics teacher with teaching experience in the United Kingdom. I hold a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics and Economics, a master's degree in Economics, a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). I am patient, approachable and passionate about helping learners build confidence, overcome difficulties and achieve their academic goals. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.
Teaching Experience:
I have experience teaching Mathematics and Economics to learners from diverse backgrounds. I have taught KS3 and KS4 Mathematics, including GCSE content, while planning curriculum-aligned lessons, assessing progress and adapting learning for different abilities and needs. My experience includes explaining challenging concepts clearly, using worked examples, addressing misconceptions, supporting SEND learners and preparing students for assessments.
Tutoring Approach:
I begin by identifying each student's strengths, areas for development and individual goals. I break difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps and use modelling, worked examples, questioning and guided practice before students attempt problems independently. In Mathematics, I focus on conceptual understanding, accurate methods, problem-solving and examination technique. In Economics, I connect theory to current affairs and practical, real-world examples. Lessons are personalised, interactive and delivered at a pace that suits the learner. I regularly check understanding, provide constructive feedback and review progress so that every student becomes more confident and independent.
