Personal Description:

I am a secondary Mathematics teacher living in the Manchester area. I am highly passionate about Mathematics, and thoroughly enjoy teaching the subject. I believe it's more than learning about numbers and equations, it's about understanding. I love building relationships with pupils in the classroom, and transferring knowledge to them.

In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym, visiting National Trust parks and reading a variety of novels.

Teaching Experience:

I am a secondary Mathematics teacher who holds qualified teacher status, and finished teacher training in July 2022. I have 4 years' worth of teaching experience and during this time, I have taught in a high achieving secondary school in Altrincham. I have substantial experience with both the AQA and OCR scheme of learning. My experience of teaching varied abilities over the years makes me highly adaptable.

As a teacher, I am fully trained on meeting a range of educational needs and ensuring that I am tailoring my teaching to meet the needs of the pupils. Before I was a teacher, I was a teaching assistant, and also a tutor in an award winning tuition centre, where I tutored Secondary Mathematics and led 11+ tuition sessions.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer online tuition lessons for key stage 3 and 4 mathematics, GCSE revision and 11+ examination preparation.

The lesson is all about the pupil! I ensure my tutoring is pupil-centred and that I am meeting their learning needs and filling in their gaps of knowledge. I use positive rapport and relationship building to create a positive learning environment for the pupil.

In the first lesson, I would give the pupils an assessment, which allows me to identify their gaps in the curriculum. I would then focus on filling the gaps in future tuition sessions. In the beginning of each lesson, pupils are tested on prior knowledge to ensure they can recall the information.

I break down a topic or question into smaller parts, and ensure pupils can then confidently apply the skill they have learnt to future questions. I use a variety of resources and teaching methods, making learning accessible for all.

My techniques involve exposing students to exam style questions throughout the tutoring experience to ensure they can apply the knowledge they have learnt. Other methods I use are spot the mistake, underlining key parts of a question, and linking topics to prior information.

I can set homework at the end of each session if the pupil wishes me to do so. Parents/carers are given feedback at the end of each session to ensure they are kept up to date.

• PGCE in Secondary Education
• Bachelors degree in Psychology
• Masters degree in Counselling
