Cameron - Warrington tutor

Information About Cameron:

Personal Description:

Hi there, I'm Cameron! It's great that you are thinking already about raising your game and reaching your aspirations in education. It is not too long ago that I was in the same position. A bit about me: I am a current Oxford Philosophy and Theology undergraduate with a passion for education- a lifelong, enriching process which all learners should be able to access and where all should be feel a sense of achievement. Following from this, I have worked as a volunteer in educational outreach for state schools like where I came from before Oxford. I have ran personal statement and Oxbridge application workshops, as well as 'tasters' in philosophy. The biggest honour was that my high school allowed me to come back!
I studied English literature (A*), Psychology (A*), Philosophy (A) at A level, and I also studied History at AS where I received the highest mark in my cohort. I have always had a wide range of interests, and enjoyed seeing where and how they intertwine in interesting and creative ways.
My friends will say that I am both a solitary creature reading in libraries or wandering about Oxford, and a massive extrovert who loves staying out and meeting new people.
I hope that we can share an enthusiasm for learning, and I hope that I can help you in reaching your goals and aspirations.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently studying for a PGCE in secondary English via the Teach First route. At A level, I conducted revision sessions for History, Psychology and Philosophy for other students. I have ran sessions, in person and online, on Oxbridge applications, interview 'strategy' and personal statements based on my own experiences successfully navigating the admissions process. I am experienced in conducting mock interviews and supporting applications.

Tutoring Approach:

We all have different learning styles, and not all benefit from classroom, 'chalk-and-talk' teaching. If you feel like you benefit more from one-to-one or independent learning, if you like exploring 'big questions' and discovering your own ideas then we have something in common! I hope to foster a constructive and comfortable learning environment which is tailored to your individual learning style and interests. My style is interactive, I want to hear what you think based on the course content. I ask questions aimed at making you think critically and helping you practice articulating your thoughts. I use research-based powerpoints (which can be shared) and I am happy to share my tips for independent notetaking, summarisation, and revision techniques which have only become more useful in my time in Oxford.
