Personal Description:
Hi, I am a graduate from the University of Glasgow in Music. I have 15 years of experience in playing and learning music. I have a plethora of experience in the world of music, having played in ceilidh bands, pipe bands and as a jazz musician in upscale restaurants. I have also played organ for church services and taken part in many music competitions when I was in high school. On the composition side I have written music for a short musical that was featured in the Screenplay film festival and for two plays put on by my University's Shakespeare Society. I have a deep passion for music and would love to help share that passion by tutoring students in either Piano, guitar, composition or general music for high school.
Teaching Experience:
I have tutored a few kids over the past couple years in piano. Helping each of them reach their first few piano grades and receiving glowing reviews from their parents for having made piano enjoyable for their kids whilst also improving their technique.
Tutoring Approach:
I like to try and keep kids engaged by splitting my lessons with effective beginner techniques, then something that they'd like. In every lesson I have done I've asked my student if there's a song they'd like to learn, and then in my own time I've notated sheet music for that piece appropriate to their level. Also for high school music I can help with the written exam, help with the composition part as I have a lot of composition experience and know a lot of techniques to make the experience simpler and easier for the student.
