Helen - Putney tutor

Information About Helen:

Personal Description:

I am currently a PGCE Secondary Mathematics student at the University of Roehampton, with previous international experience teaching GCSE and A-Level content. My lessons are suitable for secondary school students preparing for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics, as well as younger learners who would like to strengthen their foundations.

Teaching Experience:

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and includes a short review of previous material, guided practice on new content, and exam-style questions to consolidate understanding. I adjust the pace and style depending on the student's needs, and I have experience working with learners who require additional support, including SEN students.

Tutoring Approach:

Mathematics can feel challenging, but with the right guidance it becomes logical and even enjoyable. As a PGCE Secondary Mathematics student at Roehampton, I specialise in breaking down complex ideas into simple steps and encouraging students to think independently. I have experience teaching both GCSE and A-Level students, as well as supporting learners with SEN, and I am committed to helping every student reach their full potential.

I believe mathematics is not only about practice, but also about recognising patterns and developing clear reasoning. In my lessons, I use step-by-step explanations, questioning techniques, and plenty of practice examples to help students build confidence. I also integrate strategies for memory and problem-solving so that learners can transfer their skills to new topics.
