Adetoun - Reading tutor
Information About Adetoun:
Personal Description:
Hello, my name is Adetoun, and I provide Early Years and Primary learning support in reading, maths, phonics, and confidence-building, helping children develop strong foundations and enjoy learning. I also support adults with basic English and maths, as well as English language skills, offering a patient and encouraging approach to build confidence and practical ability. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, art, and music. My personal experience as a stammerer has deepened my empathy for learners facing diverse challenges, and I am committed to supporting both academic progress and social-emotional growth. I aim to create a safe, encouraging environment where every child feels capable and proud of their learning.
Teaching Experience:
I have gained valuable teaching and support experience across a range of settings, working with learners from early years through to higher education. As a tutor, I have delivered personalised one-to-one English literacy and Mathematics support at Key Stage One, helping children improve their reading fluency by a full grade level through phonics, vocabulary games, and guided reading, while adapting lessons to different learning paces and building confidence. In my role as a Nursery Assistant, I supported children aged three to five with daily routines and social play, creating a nurturing and inclusive environment that encouraged positive behaviour and engagement. I have also worked as a Student Mentor, guiding more than 25 international students through academic transitions with tailored resources and one-to-one mentoring, further developing my skills in empathy, adaptability, and clear communication. In addition, my professional role as a Performance and Insight Analyst strengthened my ability to simplify complex information, deliver training, and track progress, all of which are directly transferable to lesson planning, student development monitoring, and parent communication.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching style is patient, interactive, and tailored to each child's needs, using stories, games, and practical activities to make learning enjoyable while ensuring steady progress. I have a strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum and experience supporting children with school refusal, adult learners and special educational needs.
