Sarah - Bromley tutor

Information About Sarah:

Personal Description:

I offer face-to-face tutoring because I believe the best progress comes from being able to see how a student thinks through a problem in real time. This allows me to identify gaps in understanding, address misconceptions straight away, and provide targeted support.

I focus on building strong subject knowledge, exam technique, and confidence. I ask lots of questions and encourage students to explain their thinking - this helps them become more independent and resilient learners.

My sessions are tailored to each student's needs. We work through past paper questions, break down difficult topics into manageable steps, and use active recall techniques to strengthen memory and understanding. I also give advice on how to revise effectively between sessions.

Teaching Experience:

I'm an experienced secondary school science teacher and have been a successful Head of Science for the past 10 years. In this role, I've led a large department, supported students across a wide range of abilities, and overseen GCSE preparation with excellent results.

I have a deep understanding of the science curriculum, how students learn best, and what examiners are looking for. My teaching style is supportive, structured, and focused on helping each student build confidence and achieve their full potential.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is supportive, structured, and tailored to each individual student. I work face-to-face because I believe it's the best way to understand how a student thinks and approaches a problem. This allows me to identify gaps in understanding, address misconceptions straight away, and adapt the lesson in real time.

I focus on building strong foundations in subject knowledge and developing confident exam technique. I encourage students to explain their thinking, ask questions, and actively engage with the material - not just memorise it.

I use a mix of targeted explanations, guided practice, past paper questions, and revision strategies to help students make sustained progress. Whether a student needs help catching up or pushing for top grades, I work at their pace and provide clear, achievable steps forward.
