Personal Description:

I am a mother of two sons and find teaching rewarding.

I have been tutoring for the past 8 years from Year 2 to A' Level, which has covered phonics, KS3 skills, GCSE syllabi of Edexel, AQA and CIE iGCSE. This has included resit English Language, current syllabus English Language and Literature. The personal and individualised learning, I have found especially enjoyable. Although my lessons are skills based moving towards the relevant key stage, I aim to provide fun interactive lessons, especially at Primary level.

I am currently a GCSE English Language Marker for a leading Exam board.

Teaching Experience:

I have over 23 years teaching experience. At first, I taught clients, both face-to-face and over the telephone, how to use specialist software. Then I qualified as a teacher of English for Secondary Education. Over the past 20 years, I have taught across the age and ability ranges including KS3, KS4 (GCSE) and KS5 (A`Level) both in schools and through private tuition. I am familiar with and have received training on the new GCE A` Level and GCSE specifications and am an Examiner for one of the major exam boards.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer friendly and professional sessions for all those wishing to improve their English or achieve better grades in their Functional Skills, GCSE or A level qualifications.
I offer tailored tutoring based on the key skills required at the relevant Key Stage to aid students progress; working collaboratively with parents and students to help them develop and achieve their goals. I find actively engaging students in their own learning improves their self-confidence and thereby, their learning. Where possible, I use resources that are based on the student's interests to foster motivation and achievement.
