Peter - Cobham tutor
Information About Peter:
Personal Description:
I am currently a final year medical student at St Georges University of London. Having done maths, biology and chemistry at A Level and going through the medical school application process I believe I am in a good position to help others attempting to pursue a career in medicine.
Working alongside doctors and other university staff in charge of academia I also have an insight into what universities look for in applicants.
Outside of studying I enjoy sports including squash and was fortunate enough to captain the Men's Team from 2022-2023.
Teaching Experience:
I have worked with a charity called "future focus" and within this I conducted interview practise to those students applying to medical schools.
I also have some informal tuition experience with tutoring a family friend for science GCSEs.
At school, part of my extra curriculum activities was showing local primary school children fun chemistry experiments and giving them an explanation of how the experiments worked.
I also used to partake in American Boy Scouts, and after achieving the status of Eagle Scout, I turned to helping younger scouts gain merit badges by teaching them certain topics, often non academic related.
Tutoring Approach:
In my first session I would like to further explore exactly what my tutee would like help on. If there is a topic specifically which you find challenging we can spend more time on this and go into greater depth. I am flexible with my approach and am more willing to listen to my tutee to see what works best for them- for example if going through practise questions is more beneficial than being taught topics then this is absolutely fine, although generally I would adopt a blend of these approaches.
Being a final year medic at a London University I have experience in UCAT, BMAT and medical school interviews and have myself gone on courses when applying to medical school so will be able to pass on some tips and tricks.
Besides this I'm very friendly, patient and empathetic!
