Personal Description:

I have recently relocated to NI from London . I am originally from Donegal. I am an avid reader with a particular passion for poetry. In my previous work in schools, I have organised the publication of several school anthologies of children's' creative writing.
I have been successful in bids to have poets in residence within the schools. I have worked on the teaching and learning teams and devised inset for teaching staff. I have worked as an assistant examiner et and have been working as a GCSE senior examiner for several years.



Teaching Experience:

I am an English language and Literature teacher with over 30 years experience of teaching at KS3, KS4 and KS5 level.
I taught in Ireland for a year before moving to London. I initially worked in TEFL (director of studies) and also did freelance work training teachers for the Trinity TEFL certification. I worked in two Hackney Schools teaching English . I was Head of English Department and then a Lead Practitioner on the Teaching and Learning Team at Cardinal Pole School in Hackney.
I have been working as an examiner since 2006 ( senior examiner since 2015).



Tutoring Approach:

I enjoy working with young people and would welcome the opportunity to work as a tutor ( online or in person.). I am particularly interested in preparing studies for examinations at GCSE Language and Literature or A Level Literature levels.
