Personal Description:

I am 46 years old and have more than 20 years of teaching experience. I am currently working full time as a teacher of health and Social care, Sociology and Criminology and I also tutor Psychology on a one to one basis. My passion is in understanding people and behaviour as reflected in my degree choice of Social Psychology. I am dedicated to inspiring learners to reach their full potential and am available evenings, weekends and holidays. I am able to work at home or in the pupil's home and can travel up to about 10 miles.

Teaching Experience:

I have a wide experience of working with pupils of many different ages, in small and large groups and on an individual basis, some of whom have learning difficulties. I have also tutored KS1 and KS2 Math's and English. I started my teaching career in further education teaching health and social care BTEC and then moved to working in secondary schools firstly in the 6th form teaching HCS, A Level Sociology and Extended Project, and then KS4 teaching child development GCSE, health and social care BTEC and sociology GCSE. I have tutored outside of school on and off for a number of years within a tutoring centre and freelance.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to create a supportive and dynamic learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore and challenge their understanding of the subject matter, where they feel as comfortable as possible and are able to develop their confidence in being able to answer questions without the worry of getting it wrong. I think it is important to be able to develop positive relationships with good clear communication and professional boundaries where the tutee understands that they are also responsible for their own learning and have to put in as much work as their tutor does.
