Personal Description:
I am a dedicated and experienced Maths teacher with over 15 years of classroom experience, including more than 10 years as Head of Mathematics. I am currently Head of Maths at a secondary school in South Wales, where I teach pupils from Year 7 through to Year 13, including GCSE, A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
Throughout my career, I have worked with students of all abilities, helping them to build confidence, develop strong mathematical foundations and achieve their academic goals. I understand that every student learns differently, and I tailor my teaching to meet their individual needs.
As a fully qualified and GTCW-registered teacher, I bring extensive knowledge of the curriculum, proven teaching strategies and significant experience in preparing students for examinations. I also hold a current DBS check.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught Mathematics in schools across South Wales and Bristol, bringing over 15 years of classroom experience, including more than 8 years as Head of Mathematics. Throughout my career, I have worked with students across a wide range of abilities, helping them develop strong mathematical foundations, build confidence and achieve their individual academic goals.
I currently teach secondary Mathematics in South Wales, covering all levels up to and including A Level Mathematics. I have extensive experience delivering the full A Level Mathematics specification and preparing students not only for the demands of the course content but also for the rigour of the examinations.
At GCSE level, I have a strong record of supporting students to achieve their potential. I have helped high-achieving students secure A/A grades*, while also working successfully with students on the C/D borderline to help them achieve the grades they need.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is centred on building confidence and developing genuine mathematical understanding. Every pupil is different, so I tailor my teaching to their individual needs, learning style and where they are on their mathematical journey.
I focus on ensuring that students develop a clear, practical and comprehensive understanding of mathematical concepts. We begin by strengthening procedural knowledge and securing the fundamental skills and techniques that underpin success in Mathematics.
Once these foundations are secure, we progress to reasoning, problem-solving and exam-style questions, allowing students to apply their knowledge in increasingly complex and unfamiliar situations. This helps students move beyond simply knowing how to complete a calculation and towards understanding when and why to use particular mathematical methods.
This structured progression helps to deepen understanding while, most importantly, building confidence. My aim is for pupils to leave each session feeling more prepared, more capable and increasingly confident in their ability to tackle Mathematics independently and succeed in their examinations.
