Information About Leo:

Personal Description:

Hello! I am Leo, and I've just finished my first year studying Physics at The Queen's College, Oxford. I am an engaging, patient, and dedicated tutor who genuinely cares a lot about his students. I am particularly interested in space and the astrophysics component of physics, and love stargazing and learning more about the universe. I have my own telescope, with which I take photos of galaxies and planets, and upload them to Instagram. I also love music and playing the piano, as well as playing badminton and competing in MMA. I look forward to hearing from you!

Teaching Experience:

I am an experienced tutor and have tutored many GCSE and A-Level students. Below is a list of my recent experience in teaching.

Tutored a GCSE student for 10 sessions split equally between maths and physics. Saw good improvement in both subjects. Aug 2021 (ongoing). 60+ hours

Tutored a GCSE student for 12 two-hour sessions in physics. Huge improvement in grade, from a level 5 to 8. Jul 2021 - Oct 2021. 24 hours

Tutored a GCSE student for 10 sessions split equally between maths and physics. Saw good improvement in both subjects. Jul 2020 - Oct 2020 10 hours

Classroom Assistant: Helped run drop-in tutoring sessions for physics after school at Tiffin Boys School. Dec 2019 - Dec 2020. 40 hours.

Tutoring Approach:

I think education is very important, and a key component to good education (other than the student), is having a good tutor. Therefore, as a tutor I try to encourage my students to think creatively and for themselves, and to achieve this, I ask lots of thought-provoking questions in my lessons to try to get the student to showcase how they think and develop this crucial ability. This is essential in later stages, especially in university admissions where the interviewers are looking for capable students who can demonstrate this. I am also a patient and caring tutor who tries to make the lessons engaging and develop a genuine interest in the student for the subject I am tutoring.
