Suraien - Harrow tutor
Information About Suraien:
Personal Description:
I am a medical student studying at UCL and I would confidently describe myself as a motivated individual. I have always been determined in any task that I am given, whether it be education related or not I believe that I should put all my effort into anything I do. I am organised and I have good time-management skills and I personally hate wasting time as I believe that time is valuable and so I make sure that I am always being productive with my time, and this is what leads me to being organised and submitting everything before deadlines. Lastly, looking into my character, I'd certainly say that I am a very simple person who is friendly and I love socialising with people from all different ages, as I believe that there is always something to learn from talking to people, no matter what age they are.
Teaching Experience:
I have been voluntary tutoring school kids from year 4-8 for the past two years, with a specific focus on the 11+ entrance examinations for Years 4,5,6 and having done this, I have been able to help many individuals pass their exams and get into amazing grammar and private schools. As well as my high success rate, I have also given 1-1 private school interview preparation and this has also been an excellent experience for myself as I really improved my communication with children and had the satisfaction of helping children get into the best private schools in the country.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is to find identify the weaknesses that the children are struggling with, as I believe when it comes to teaching a subject there is no point teaching all the topics if they are already strong at some of them. I always assess the students and identify their weaknesses and then after a few lessons I make sure that these have now become strengths. For example, when teaching Mathematics, I make sure that they do a lot of practice of the same topic over and over again until they are very confident with it, and by confident, I mean they will have to be getting minimum 90% in that topic to then move onto the next. This way, I tick off one topic at a time and they will certainly be making great improvements and these will be clear from their school results in upcoming exams.
