Debolina - Leeds tutor
Information About Debolina:
Personal Description:
I am a 2nd year UCL medical student and achieved 4 A*s in A levels and EPQ as well as all four offers in my medical school applications. This has given me the knowledge and experience to guide students through Biology, Chemistry and Spanish up to GCSE/A levels and also provide them with support in UCAT/BMAT/Personal Statement and Interview prep when applying for medicine.
Given the fact that I did my A levels and applied to university recently, I can offer students a fresh perspective on the subjects, especially exam technique, interview and personal statement prep.
Teaching Experience:
I have volunteered as a tutor for sixth form students at City and Islington College where I taught A level biology and chemistry content and helped students with difficult exam questions. I led groups of medical applicants and helped them UCAT and BMAT prep as well as interview practice.
I have reviewed many personal statements of peers and younger friends, giving them advice on how to improve these in order to catch the attention of university admissions teams. Given my success in the applications process, I have a strong understanding of what universities look for and how to present yourself in the best light through the personal statement. This experience was rewarding as many of the people went on to get offers from universities like Leicester, Edinburgh, UCL, Cambridge and Nottingham.
Tutoring Approach:
The first lesson will be an overview of the subject, covering some of the topics which are generally considered more difficult. This will allow me to plan future lessons to cater to the tutees needs. My lessons adhere to the tutee's need as I will ask them which areas they find most challenging. I will use example questions and worksheets to teach both content and exam technique. From experience, students respond best to this approach as it highlights which topics they need to consolidate. I believe I can provide useful tips and revision techniques that helped me and moreover, will patiently explain harder content in a way that suits the student.
