Personal Description:

I'm an avid Historian mostly specialising in military history but I have competent knowledge of several eras including the 17th century, Victorian and Edwardian eras as well as both World Wars. My love of history has, for the last 22 years, taken me to whole new levels and I often spend my weekends as a 'Living Historian'. I've made, collected and bought period specific clothing to 'live' as a person of another era. Currently, my chosen period is WW2. I have travelled all over the UK, France, Belgium and as far as Russia and Romania with my portrayals. My love for history has meant that I have to research anything that spurs my interest. I have researched my own family history, the places they lived, the jobs they did and where they came from. My free weekends are spent walking around London 'finding' history and researching my finds.

Teaching Experience:

During my time with a Teaching Agency and through a local school, I have been both a teaching assistant and learning support assistant where I have not only been able to assist in several subjects but I have also had to learn skills appropriate to working with children of differing educational needs. The age groups of these children; Reception, Primary- up to 11 years and Secondary - 11 to 16 years. In my capacity as a 'Living Historian' I often speak to both children and adults when they attend events where I am invited to display at, be it for educational purposes or a display at places of historic interest. English Heritage and National Trust properties included. I have, on occasion, been invited to do talks on my favourite subjects.
I have recently been helping a friend's child with her history homework and I'd dearly love to do more.

Tutoring Approach:

History needn't be boring. My aim is always to breathe life into people of bygone eras. To better explain social aspects of those times with passion and empathy. I aim to better explain each era, explore the more obscure aspects and dispel commonly quoted beliefs whilst remaining unbiased and encouraging.
