Personal Description:
I'm an enthusiastic and optimistic young teacher with a passion for education. I have been a private tutor for over 5 years, teaching students of all ages.
I have a degree in Music and Languages, and come from Pembrokeshire, West Wales. I have moved to London to work as a recruitment consultant.
I'm a qualified ESL Teacher, and in my spare time I love to go running, swimming, surfing, and play musical instruments. I'm a big fan of travelling and have lived in countries such as Argentina, Spain and Austria. I play the piano, drums, percussion and guitar. I like to go skiing and snowboarding (when it's snowy enough!).
In my spare time outside of work, I would love to tutor people online. My lessons are relatively very cheap, and I'm happy to modify lessons for the student. Please contact me about anything if you're interested!
Teaching Experience:
I have a TEFL certificate from teaching English as a foreign language in Valencia, Spain for 7 months in 2018. I also acquired a TEFLPP (play & performance) certificate from Educo Italia in 2020.
I've taught privately for 5 years, tutoring core subjects and also teaching Spanish, Welsh, German and music: piano, drums and theory.
For my own GCSEs I achieved 7 A*s, 3 As and a B. I then achieved an A at AS-Level Maths, and ABBB in A-Levels Welsh, Music, Spanish and Biology.
If you or your child are behind in school, I am happy to create lessons designed to help with homework and extra lessons to explain the subject more clearly. I work Monday to Friday until 4pm but am happy to negotiate times on week nights or the weekend to give you or your child extra tuition. I specialise in teaching music, Spanish, German and Welsh, but can happily tutor in English, Science and Maths.
I have had 3 DBS checks in the past, but none currently active. If you would feel more comfortable having lessons from me after receiving an updated DBS, I would be happy to do this.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe in lots of practice and immersion. With languages I like to speak as though we're in that country. With music I believe that repetition is key. When revising for exams or doing homework, I think that knowing the answer isn't the important thing. Rather, knowing how to work it out is.
I'm positive, reinforcing and experienced. I like to get to know my students before diving into the hard topics.
