Information About Rosie:

Personal Description:

Hi! My name's Rosie and I am 26 years old. I am currently supporting students in a local special needs school, but I am keen to be tutoring Geography as it is my favourite subject and I miss teaching it. I have travelled to lots of places, and I used to live abroad in Hong Kong. I love seeing the amazing things that this world has to offer, which is why I think that Geography is the best subject! I am a kind and caring person, I will always put first my students needs and I am incredibly empathetic. Although.. I do have high expectations, so I will strive for the best from my students.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working in education since 2016. I first started working as an SEN Teaching assistant, so I have experience working with students with ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia and learning difficulties. I also supported students who had English as an additional language, and behavioural issues both in class and running interventions. After this, I moved to Hong Kong in 2017 to become an English as a foreign language teacher. I worked with a wide range of students, from ages 3-14 so I was not only teaching English to Kindergarten students, but also to Secondary students! I have experience in more complex strategies for teaching English but also the basics, such as the alphabet and phonics. Upon returning to the UK, I completed my PGCE in Geography and was awarded Qualified Teacher Status, and continued my NQT year in a school I was placed in. This school was a comprehensive secondary school with over 1300 students, and I taught all year groups in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. I have extensive knowledge of the AQA Geography specification and exams.

Tutoring Approach:

I will always find out what my students needs and goals are, and I think it is important to liaise with school teachers to get this information so that I know I am working on the same level as them. However, although I am good at understanding students needs, seeing their progress and making my own judgements with what I think students will need to learn/revise/practise, I will also do what fits best with the student and compromise with what my students want to do, as I want them to have an enjoyable tutoring session. I have high expectations, but I also want to keep it as fun and engaging as possible.
