Information About Andrew:

Personal Description:

I am a language teacher who is married with two children. I enjoy travelling and have lived and worked in Spain, Venezuela, Italy and Taiwan. Moreover, other languages and cultures fascinate me.Also, I like film and like to hang out with friends and family.

Teaching Experience:

I have been an EFL teacher for over 20 years. I have worked in Spain, Venezuela, Italy, Taiwan and the UK. I have delivered general English and English exam courses to individuals and groups. For the last 11 years I have been working for Kaplan International Colleges-a leading private language school. I have also worked for the British Council in Venezuela(2000 and 2001) and Spain(2005-2006). I have experience teaching English to all levels from Beginner to Advanced. Further, I have prepared students to sit the IELTS exam. Over the last 18 months I have helped GCSE Spanish students prepare for the exam.

Tutoring Approach:

I use the Communicative Approach in my teaching. All lessons are conducted mainly in the target language. When it comes to IELTS or Spanish GCSE there is a focus on exam technique and strategy. Each part of the exam is broken down so students know exactly what is required of them. I like to focus on the nuts and bolts of language such as grammar and vocabulary. I try to encourage student's fluency by drawing them out by asking them questions related to themes they will be tested on.
