Information About Emily:

Personal Description:

I am a lecturer in GCSE English Language for resit students at West Suffolk College. Alongside this, I am also programme lead for Functional Skills English, supporting students with reading, writing and speaking and listening skills.

I am passionate about English with a calming and supportive approach when it comes to teaching.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading and live music.

Teaching Experience:

I graduated with a 2:1 degree in English Language and Literature at the University of Hull in 2012 and completed my PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education and Training at Nottingham Trent University in 2014.

I have six years of teaching experience covering learner groups such as adults and 16-19 students, teaching across GCSE and Functional Skills. I have also taught at an independent provider, supporting students with barriers to mainstream education.

I have taught in Nottingham, Rotherham and currently in Bury St Edmunds.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a calming, understanding and nurturing approach when it comes to teaching and I believe that all students deserve an opportunity to a fair education. Building confidence and self-belief is key to learning, which is part of my own approach to effective delivery.

Personalising learning is also key to engagement so I tailor sessions to include a student's particular passions or interests. Setting reasonable goals is also important to my approach.
