Personal Description:

I'm a guitarist, composer and teacher based in London. I'm best known for leading the seven-piece Latin American-influenced band Oriole that received many 5 star nation reviews.
I have also performed and recorded with other projects including:
Arun Ghosh, Polar Bear, Asabre Quay's Senako, The F-ire Collective Large Ensemble, Barak Schmool, Teco Cardoso, Roland Gift, Soothsayers, Giorgio Serci, The Mad Professor, Juliet Kelly and Julia Biel. I am currently scoring music for the feature film Passing Through, working on an opera for director/writer David Walter Hall and developing an album for his new project Guitar Journey.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach guitar for Brixton based afrobeat/reggae youth band Youthsayers and in various schools for Wandsworth County Council.

My previous teaching experience includes Weekend Arts College, Southwark Blue Note, Community Music, The Academy of Contemporary Music and privately. With students successfully passing trinity college exams from initial to grade 8.

Tutoring Approach:

Above all, I try to make lessons clear and enjoyable but also help with:

Learning your favourite songs or pieces accurately
Learning the fretboard and understanding some theory
Techniques to help you play with more ease
Timing issues, by using backing tracks and loops
Understanding a variety of styles; rock, pop, blues, jazz, world and folk
Scales, theory and ear training, if you are interested
Beginners, advanced, old and young students are all equally welcome.

I can teach you songs and pieces of your own choice, see the scores section. I have also found that the structure of Trinty College Rock and Pop books and graded exams are a great structured way to learn.

For Classical guitar I endeavour to facilitate:

A solid and up to date right and left-hand classical guitar technique
A rich and broad Classical repertoire taking you on a journey through Spain, South America and beyond, also back in time exploring Bach's beautiful Lute music.
Knowledge of music theory and sight-reading
Some knowledge of composition and how the pieces have been built
Understanding of interpretation and sound quality
Great marks in Trinity College exams
My personal understanding comes directly from some of the greatest classical guitarists in the world today, including Trinity College course leader Graham Devine and Cuban master Ale Arango (Francisco Tarrega Competition winner 2018) along with years of personal study and performance.
