Information About Asad:

Personal Description:

I'm a University of Cambridge double scholarship-winner in Social and Political Sciences; a qualified corporate lawyer; an award-winning, Wired-featured journalist for South Korean digital newspaper OhmyNews; and the designer and creator of Higher Grades Faster!™, the world's best academic success and productivity course. If you want to seriously improve your teenager's academic performance, then please do get in touch!

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring since 1995, including designing and delivering an EAL course for non-native speakers aged 7-14 in North Macedonia during my gap year. Students typically improve their exam performance by between 1 and 4 grade bands when working with me; one of my students (who has English as his second language) managed to go from an 'E' to an 'A' in History in a single term! I taught myself A-level Economics, and scored the highest available grade (A, 10 UCAS points).

My specialisms: Study Skills, English; History; Economics; Government and Politics; and Law.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring approach is characterised by five key elements:

1. Firstly, it is holistic. I take a genuine interest in the health, welfare and overall academic capabilities of my students, and take care to establish a warm rapport with them.

2. Secondly, it is customised - there are no cookie cutter lessons. The content is subtly tailored to your child's requirements and personality, often using references from the worlds of technology, soccer, fashion, culture and current affairs to bring lessons to life. This makes learning much more effective and memorable.

3. The third hallmark of my tutoring approach is efficiency. When appropriate, in advance of each lesson, I decide with my students in some detail the topics to be covered during the lesson. This enables us to cover a lot of ground in one lesson, particularly those which are 1.5-2 hours in duration.

4. Fourthly, I encourage students to think for themselves, and to reflect on the material they are studying and the world around them. This helps foster an intrinsic love of learning which will stay with them long after they have completed their formal education.

5. Finally, I offer copious and detailed feedback on my students' work, particularly essays - essays are the gold standard mode of assessment, and the task which students typically find the hardest to accomplish. As a qualified corporate lawyer and award-winning journalist, I have an eye for detail like no other tutor - I use this to help your child succeed.

Thank you for reading my profile, and I greatly look forward to hearing from you!
