Connie - St Helens tutor
Information About Connie:
Personal Description:
Hello I'm Connie. I have a degree in English Literature and an MA in Creative Writing. I have achieved A* grades at both GCSE and A Level in English and have tutored mainly GCSE students in the past.
Teaching Experience:
I have been working in schools for 6 years. I have worked in both secondary and primary schools and currently work in a primary school in the Liverpool area.
I have also got a lot of experience working with children who have special educational needs and need support with their learning in the classroom.
Tutoring Approach:
With primary school children my focus is mastering the basics in order to supplement their learning in school.
With GCSE and A Level students I focus on understanding the set texts and looking at exam questions, specifically what questions mean and the best ways to answer them, what a good answer should look like and contain and what examiners are looking for, etc.
For students studying English at university, I focus on the 'step-up' from A-Level, how to understand degree level English questions and how to answer them to a high level.
Furthermore, I believe a practical approach is most successful, teaching something specific and getting students to put it into practice and perfect it.
