Personal Description:

I am a qualified teacher and Oxford graduate, and I teach a range of musical disciplines including academic music (GCSE, A Level and degree level) piano, music theory, music technology and composition. I can offer Oxbridge preparation sessions and personal statement support. I primarily offer online tuition and have taught students from across the world using this method.

I hold a First Class degree in Music from the University of Oxford and a Masters in Composition with Distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I am also a qualified teacher (PGCE) and a GCSE Music examiner.

In addition to teaching and tutoring, I am an award-winning composer of music for theatre, film and the concert hall. My music has been heard in venues including Wigmore Hall, the Barbican, LSO St Luke's and Abbey Road and Maida Vale Studios, and has been performed by ensembles including the BBC Singers, EXAUDI, PlusMinus Ensemble, the New Music Players and the Cavaleri Quartet.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a range of independent and state schools across the UK, most recently leading the music department in a large sixth form college in the north of England. I am also a GCSE Music examiner and have worked on education projects for the Barbican's Creative Learning division, the One Foundation and Oxfordshire County Music Service. I have been providing one-to-one tuition for the past 8 years to a wide range of students.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient and professional tutor, with wide-ranging experience across many different styles of music, and a flexible approach to suit the individual needs of each student. I am incredibly passionate about the power of music to enhance and enrich the lives of students, and love the opportunity that tutoring gives me to pass on my love for the subject to others. I am experienced at teaching in classroom situations, and tutoring in small group and one-to-one scenarios. I am equally at home teaching beginners and advanced students.
