Adam - Ashtead tutor

Information About Adam:

Personal Description:

Recently graduated from University of Southampton studying Physics, I've always been interested in maths at school and want to continue to grow in this department. Im a well rounded person, who is very involved in sports and socially active. I'm an approachable face, where no question is a wrong question. I am currently working as a trainee accountant and I'm always looking to improve myself.

Teaching Experience:

I have never taught as a teacher before, but I have an extensive knowledge in basic and advanced mathematics and would love to share it. I understand its not always about what you know, but how you perform in the exam, which perhaps is an unfair way of testing. This is why i focus on teaching exam technique also, as this is a key transferable skill that you can use for the rest of your life. I'm passionate about getting far in life and this is a great way to share wealth and help the future advance.

Tutoring Approach:

I want to teach through active participation as this is in my opinion the best way to learn. This method means prompting the student to ask questions as I explain a specific topic. I want the student to ask the right questions and be curious about where I am going with the topic. This active learning style allows them to stay engaged, whilst giving me feedback on how their brain thinks and what they're understanding or missing. This allows me to adapt my style subtly to allow the student to learn more efficiently. The structure of the lesson will start by explaining the topics they asked for. Then I will go through examples with them and give homework questions to reinforce their learning. I understand people work at different paces so this is key to grasp early with the student.
