Information About Maya:

Personal Description:

I am a student at the Univerisity of Newcastle studying a BSc in Psychology with integrated French components. I am originally from London where I completed A Levels in Psychology, English and Maths and gained an AS in Further Maths.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience privately tutoring students in Maths and English from Primary Level to GCSE. All of my students have achieved or excelled their target grades.
I have worked with pupil premium children (those from a lower socio-economic background) in a school setting in intensive small groups, to help them achieve the national average.
Furthermore, I have taught English as an additional language to children abroad.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe all students require consistency to achieve and this approach takes different forms dependant on the age of the student and the subject they are taking. For example, with primary school English, I take great care to integrate high frequency words into each lesson so as to build a solid and varied vocabulary. Alternatively, with a GCSE Maths student I consistently revisit topics that have already been learned and ensure that the student is frequently completing past-papers to ensure they can see their own progress.
At the root of it, students need clear goal and a dynamic tutor to learn from who poses the same topic in many different, and hopefully interesting(!), ways.
