Personal Description:

I am a fully qualified maths teacher with 18 years of classroom experience. I offer tuition for GCSE, A-Level Maths and Further Maths and university entrance exams. I have a Cambridge University maths degree and excellent subject knowledge. I work as an examiner for two exam boards and have a thorough understanding of what is required for exam success.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in both secondary schools and sixth form colleges as well as being an experienced private tutor. I have taught the new specifications for both GCSE and A Level. I am up to date with the latest assessment requirements through my work as an examiner. I have prepared students for both Oxford and Cambridge entrance exams. I have a strong academic background (10 A*s at GCSE, 5 As at A-Level, Cambridge University mathematics degree and a masters degree in mathematics). I also have an excellent track record of improving the grades of students who struggle with the subject or lack confidence. I have had significant success in helping students with GCSE maths retakes. Many of these students had attempted the exam a number of times before coming to me and I was able to help them to achieve the grade they needed for the next steps in their education or career.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a calm, patient and friendly manner. I believe that the most important first step in helping a student is to build their confidence and to encourage them to believe they can succeed. I tailor my tuition to each individual student's needs and I pride myself on my flexibility of approach. This makes me successful across the age and ability range.
