Lewis - Lancaster tutor
Information About Lewis:
Personal Description:
I am a chemical engineering undergraduate at Lancaster University. A very easy-going individual, I am very approachable and many people feel like they can talk to me about matters academic or personal. I love teaching fellow students - the gratification I receive when they get a great grade in a subject and thank me for it is immense. This is why I've decided to pursue private tutoring, as I believe it would give me a great amount of satisfaction from helping students achieve their potential. I'm very patient which I believe is very important for being a tutor, as sometimes a student may not understand the first time and as being a student myself I understand this.
Teaching Experience:
I have privately tutored fellow students in the past, of whom I can retrieve references from if requested. These students thanked me personally after attaining their grade.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is relaxed so that the student feels like there isn't any pressure - this is crucial to performing well. I would usually ask the student to bring any material they are struggling with or feel like they need extra assistance with, such as questions on the said subject from a previous exam paper or other exam material. I would then go over this with them, and then give them more questions on the same subject to complete. I would also give optional work to take away with them, which they could do in their own time and check their answers with me the next time I would see them.
