Emily - Darlington tutor
Information About Emily:
Personal Description:
I am a currently an A level student at a selective grammar school studying History, Biology, English Literature and Fine Art. At GCSE I achieved the equivalent of 11 A*s in the following GCSEs: Art, Biology, Chemistry, Design and Technology, English Literature, English Language, French, Further Mathematics, History, Mathematics, Physics. For the year I sat my GCSE exams (2017) the 1-9 system had only been implemented in English Literature, English Language and Mathematics. I achieved three 9 grades (the equivalent of a high A*). I have also completed my grade 8 in performing arts and am currently studying for my diploma in performance studies. Another of my hobbies is ballet which I'm studying at grade 7 standard. I completed a years volunteering at a hospice shop and am currently fundraising for a 'World Challenge' expedition to Ecuador later this year. I am very patient and also considerate of the fact that every individual has a unique learning pace and technique.
Teaching Experience:
At school I assist a lower school history class each week helping the pupils with the work set by the principle teacher. I also offer tutoring to the children I babysit in any subject chosen by the parents. I live in a boarding community and am often asked by the younger students for help with their work. Recently I did an intense course of tutoring with my brother to see him successfully pass admission into my current school in year 9.
Tutoring Approach:
Positivity is key! For some students they will need an extra push as the curriculum may not challenge their capabilities and for others they may just need a gentle hand to guide them through the education system when the work seems too difficult. My tutoring will be based on individuality as I am fully aware that some students will struggle in the typical educational environment due to their learning technique. My own personal style is visual learning but this is easily adapted to any other methods and I will take special consideration for male learners who tend to be more kinaesthetic.
