Personal Description:

I am an experienced teacher/ tutor in English and Maths. I have taught pupils aged 4 to 13 in Primary, Middle and Preparatory schools.I am also a SAT marker for English.

I am now retired but still volunteer at my local school.
I am a writer, having had educational books published to aid teachers in English, Religious Education and Citizenship. I also write fiction.
I have also written online resources for teaching for Use in English.
I am secretary for a local history Society.
My own writing certainly helped and influenced my teaching of English.

I have an interest in Special Educational needs with a wide range of experience in this area and also a post graduate certificate.All children are different and special with many talents and abilities. I have been privileged to teach many children and have enjoyed helping them to develop their differing skills.
Although my main expertise is in English, I also enjoy Maths teaching very much, working alongside pupils.

Teaching Experience:

I have extensive experience teaching in Primary, Middle and Preparatory education.
As stated, I have taught children from the ages of 4 to 13.
I have had leadership roles in English, Humanities and Religious Studies and have also led school work in Special Educational Needs.
I have tutored pupils for the Kent Test ( 11 plus) in my area.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is to use all appropriate methods and to respond to the differing needs of each pupil. Every pupil is different, just as every adult is different.
A variety of teaching approaches have to be used.
I am organised but have a friendly and relaxed environment. However, the lessons are focused and pupils work hard but I believe that they also enjoy the sessions and certainly make good progress.
