Personal Description:
Hi, I`m Jess and I am an English teacher. I have a BA in English Literature and a MA in Victorian Studies (an interdisciplinary course split between literature and history).
My rates are £25 p/h for most students; my A Level and Degree rate is £30 p/h. For online tuition I have a flat rate of £25 p/h.
I travel to you or we can agree a suitable meeting place (a local library or cafe). I graduated in 2015 and since then have been teaching English in Birmingham, Solihull and North Coventry.
Whether you are looking for regular weekly sessions or ad-hoc sessions to help prepare for an exam or an essay deadline I should be able to support you.

- Working in an AP teaching English Y8 to Y11
- Hourly paid lecturer at a college teaching post 16 pupils functional skills English and GCSE English.
- Lecturer at ESOL center teaching functional skills English and GCSE English.

- Vast experience writing and giving papers at academic conferences

Tutoring Approach:
I am more than happy to boost your skills and confidence leading up to an exam, subject specific guidance, to assist with essay writing, dissertation support and proof reading and editing of forthcoming publications. I completed an access course (humanities route-way and passed with distinctions) so I am also available to offer support to adults completing that qualification. My specialty is literature and I focus on boosting confidence and grades, as I believe the two are essentially interchangeable and that when a rise in confidence is combined with hard work and determination an increase in grades is attainable.
