Information About Joanna:
Personal Description:
I am married with a grown up son. My hobbies include reading, needlework and cooking.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching for 25+ years in a variety of primary schools. I have taught children throughout this range and my classes have included children with special educational needs, those who are gifted and talented and those who are working within the expected level. My management roles have included being subject lead in mathematics and also as SENCo.
Tutoring Approach:
I have also tutored children from 5 to 16 in primary subjects, mathematics, English and science at KS3. I am currently undertaking a diploma in educational psychology, and, through Newbury College, a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism.
I believe in finding out what the tutee can do and using this to build a program that will enable them to achieve the level they wish. I aim to build confidence and do not focus on failure. I plan each session carefully building on previous sessions and knowledge and understanding of area.
