Information About Megan:

Personal Description:

I am a fully qualified primary teacher living and teaching in East Ayrshire. I am available for weekdays, weekends and holidays tutoring in literacy and numeracy. Having taught in all stages of the Scottish curriculum, I have a wide range of knowledge and expertise in all areas of the primary sector, and currently have a primary 6/7 composite class. I am an enthusiastic and motivated educator who is extremely passionate about learning. When I am not teaching I enjoy keeping fit and going to the gym and socialising with friends.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a qualified teacher for 3 years and have taught within my current school for 2. I graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed Hons) I pride myself on having the ability to discover what every child needs in order to reach their full potential. Having taught in all stages of the Scottish curriculum I have experience of using a variety of teaching strategies to allow my pupils to develop their skills whilst being appropriately challenged. I have also had a wealth of experience in teaching pupils with a wide range of additional support needs, for example: Dyslexia, DCD, autism, visual stress, AHDH, and cerebral palsy. I also have an extensive knowledge of raising attainment strategies for literacy and numeracy as I have been involved in various training events to enhance my knowledge to give every possible chance to my pupils.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very flexible in my style and will firstly listen carefully to the needs and wants of your child to tailor a bespoke curriculum to suit their every need. Over the first two weeks I will take the time to get to know your child and assess and work with them closely to establish where their strengths are and what their steps for development are. I will be happy to assist with and provide challenges/ homework for your child to work on until I next see them. I believe in fun and active learning which I firmly believes brings learning to life, making it more enjoyable and memorable for individual pupils. I aim to inspire pupils to be lifelong learners and confident individuals to face challenge and learning with a positive attitude. I want to motivate my learners and for them to enjoy learning as much as I do. Also, I can provide any necessary resources to aid learning.
