Information About Alkiviadis:

Personal Description:

I am Alkiviadis, a Greek native speaker and a qualified primary school teacher, living in Glasgow (West End). I have a passion for teaching Greek language, history and mythology, and I am highly motivated and dedicated! Whether you want to learn Greek to connect with clients and colleagues abroad, prepare for upcoming travels, or just because of your Greek ancestry, I have the course package designed to fit your schedule, to help you accomplish your goals. I appreciate students as individuals, I can plan interesting and relevant lessons by integrating IT into them and I am used to tailoring resources and lessons for individual needs. If it is for a child, I support regular in-depth parent meetings to discuss your child's progress. The process of getting to know your child starts from the very first time I meet you at your free trial session. This is an opportunity for us to meet each other and discuss your child's requirements and goals in depth.

Teaching Experience:

I have 5 years of experience teaching Greek to adults and children as a private tutor. I have delivered private lessons with supplementary school material to children aged 6-11, on maths, physics, Greek and history, putting priority on their weaknesses. Moreover, I was a volunteer teacher of Greek as a foreign/second language for immigrants and their children. Through these lessons, I managed to boost their self-confidence by developing their language and communicative skills, helping children adapt to the school environment and adults secure their jobs.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a confident, patient, friendly and reliable individual who pays attention to not only academic but also emotional development, always placing children at the center of learning. I strongly believe that learning should be enjoyable and I ensure that my tuition is both personalised and active. I take time to build good working relationships with all my pupils as I think that happy and relaxed learners are successful learners. As a tutor, I am able to identify my students' learning styles and adapt my teaching methods to suit. For example, some students are visual learners and tend to remember information that's presented in tables or charts, whereas other learners feel they're more effective when using technology. Learning a language can be challenging so I have the patience to explain new concepts and processes. In any case, I am prepared to adapt my communication style to suit my students, not the other way around.
