Information About Rebecca:

Personal Description:

I am currently a trainee solicitor at a large commercial law firm in Glasgow. I studied at the University of Glasgow for both my LLB, graduating with a 2:1, and the Diploma in Legal Practice.

My main interests, both academically and professionally, lie in private and commercial law. I attained 1:1 or 2:1 level grades in the majority of my undergraduate courses and I studied commercial law, competition law, human rights, intellectual property and family law to honours level.

I have practical working experience of a wide range of commercial law areas including, property law, corporate law, contract law, intellectual property law and employment law.

Teaching Experience:

In my final year at university, I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant teaching Business Organisations on the LLB course. I worked with a number of tutorial groups, teaching students of all ages and abilities across second and third year.

For 3 years, I worked with LexisNexis teaching classes, consisting of both law undergraduates and postgraduates, on variety of different legal research methods. Again, I worked with students of all years, ages and abilities.

Throughout university I also spent time coaching students for extra-curricular activities including mooting and legal negotiation. Most recently I have been asked to mentor Diploma students through the Glasgow Legal 40 networking group.

Tutoring Approach:

Having recently gone through the LLB and Diploma in Legal Practice myself, I have a fresh understanding of the difficulties faced by law students in their studies.

I have a wide variety of teaching experience and have spent many years teaching and coaching undergraduates and postgraduates across a range of legal subjects and skills.

I am friendly, approachable person with recent experience of academics, teaching and the legal profession.
As such I believe I am well equipped to tutor and help law students achieve their academic goals. I understand that each student will have their own preferred method of learning. It would be my aim to help a student develop this method, in a relaxed and communicative environment in order that they can achieve the best grades possible.
