Personal Description:
Marie Atter is an accomplished pianist and music tutor. She has 12 years of teaching experience and is an active solo and chamber pianist in Cambridgeshire.
From 2005-2008, Marie studied music at the University of East Anglia, where she specialised in composition and piano performance under the direction of Christopher Green-Armytage. In her final year, Marie was awarded the Britten-Pears scholarship and a First Class BA (Hons) music degree.
Teaching Experience:
After graduating from the University of East Anglia, Marie ran the music department at Sancton Wood, an Independent School in Cambridge. Alongside classroom teaching, she taught piano lessons at the school, where most of her students achieved merits or distinctions in their ABRSM exams. After recently gaining her PGCE from the University of Cambridge, Marie has taught music at Thomas Deacon Academy, Peterborough (7-18). The majority of her teaching experience lies in music composition. She now works as a freelance music teacher/pianist.
Tutoring Approach:
Marie is a passionate, dedicated and patient teacher. As a teacher of music, her aim is to inspire young people and help them to develop a love and appreciation for a variety of musical styles.
Marie's lessons are tailored to the needs of the individual and are generally taught at her home in Godmanchester.
