Lawrence - Oxford tutor
Information About Lawrence:
Personal Description:
I am a second year Oxford University Maths undergraduate with versatile interests and a passion for teaching. In love with Mathematics and hoping to become a teacher one day, I relish every opportunity I get to share my knowledge with others.
I am interested in classical music (play the violin), baroque opera and theatre. I am also writing a blog and am currently the editor-in-chief of the Oxford University Maths Society Magazine, the "Invariant".
Teaching Experience:
Co-founder and co-owner of Quill Tuition tutoring company: conducted Maths and English classes for individuals and small groups; including a Maths course for high-school students heading to leading UK universities; experienced with teaching online using interactive online whiteboard and classroom facilities (2015).
Private English tutor for adults and teenagers (2014).
Taught a high-school Maths insight course to a class of 14-year olds (2013).
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that successful tutoring consists of two things: the right approach, tailored to individual needs of every student and constant repetition and revision. If my student does not understand something, I try different ways of explaining it to them for as long as it takes for them to grasp the difficult concept in question. This way I can quickly find out what learning style fits the given student and how to teach them most effectively.
